All Equipment discussion / URP Problems
« on: March 11, 2008, 12:41:31 PM »
Not sure how many people on here have had much exposure to the URP (Urban Rural Pumper) but ours seems to always have something go wrong with it, we have had to fix the Aux pump twice, the PTO throttle wont pop out once engaged, last week the truck wouldn't start due to what seemed a flat battery but the truck charger is fine, battery is fine and it is charging when running ok and a heap of other little things that dont affect the truck being used ie pump lights etc.

Has anyone with this truck had similar problems and have they experienced other problems.

Its a long turn around for us to send the truck away for repairs so if any one has any suggestions to quick fixes or things to look for when doing truck / equipment checks.

The Humour Zone / The Gynaecologist
« on: September 27, 2007, 09:02:57 AM »
A gynaecologist had become fed up with the high malpractice insurance
premium and was on the verge of being burned out. Hoping to try another
career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to change
careers and become a mechanic. He found out from the local technical
college what was involved, signed up for evening classes, attended
diligently, and learned all he could.

When the time for the practical exam approached, the gynecologist
prepared carefully for weeks, and completed the exam with tremendous skill.

When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had
obtained a score of 150%. Fearing an error, he called the instructor,
saying "I don't want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding
result, but I was wondering if there had been an error which needed adjusting."

The instructor said, "During the exam, you took the engine apart
perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark. You put the engine
back together, again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark."

The instructor went on to say, "I gave you an extra 50% because you did
all of it through the muffler.
