SAAS / New call signs
« on: July 09, 2012, 01:57:42 PM »
Noticed some new call signs on the pagers today...

GX108
GXA108
GX77
GX127
EW77

The GX crews were tagged with pagers from Salisbury and Prospect, and EW from Marion.

Taking a stab in the dark, GX to me would be Gepps Cross (is there a new PTS/ESS station there)?? but EW the only 2 things that make sense to me is East West (sort of like the FP car, regional not station based) or Edwardstown.

Anyone got any idea??

SAAS / E1/2/3/4

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light onto what these resources are.

Obviously some sort of first responder. Where are they based, hours of operation, primary role etc??

SA Firefighter General / DENR

Heard a big piece of news this morning that DENR staff were advised there would be staff cuts of 25% in 2 weeks.

All seasonal contracts will be cancelled, and redundancies done for permanent staff.

Could have some big implications for the CFS.

SAAS / EMDSO Recruiting
« on: November 08, 2011, 06:33:53 AM »
In the middle of doing my application for EMDSO and looking for any advice on how to be successful.

Applied 3 years ago and got all the way to final interview, but missed out, even with being able to complete the exercise in fast time (done it before then!). Pretty sure I mucked up on the question of "use one word to describe how you feel a call taker should be"..from memory I used assertive....FAIL!

Anyway....any advice?

SAAS / St John - Event Patient Transport Vehicle
« on: September 05, 2011, 07:14:06 PM »
Was at the Royal Show on the weekend, and walked past a new St John vehicle, a Fiat van marked up as "Event Patient Transport".

Markings were incredibly similar to SAAS markings, in fact I would hazard a guess that SAAS workshop (or whoever does their livery) did the work on this.

The FIAT was purchased from a Victorian NESP that went bust, and apparantley is the way St John are going. I dont know if that means we will start seeing these vehicles rock up at fires when St John are called in, or they will still use the poxy Dad's Army Transits for that stuff.

For those playing at home, or can muster up any care factor, it sports the fleet number of 180. Even a quick glimpse in the driver cab seems to look like a SAAS fit out.
