Country Fire Service / Electronic versions
« on: July 22, 2012, 10:20:56 PM »
Wouldn't it be nice to fill in all our forms electronically then email them out...... Form 1, 3, 9, SACAD issues form to say the least. I know people like to protect their work and will lock spreadsheets or publish in PDF so we can't f*** with the settings but c'mon CFS - move with the times and give us the option to use a computer to do our jobs properly. It would be way too much to think we can even have a feedback button on our Official members only section let alone use a computer.

Country Fire Service / Re: CFS Volunteers fall by thousands

Some time ago there was talk about expanding the membership categories to include volunteers who are "summer only". If these changes went thru, volunteer numbers would probably rise again - and brigades would get a quorum of voters at meetings too.

My guys got confused the other morning over these firetrucking things.

AdFire: Roger your K-1
Appliance: Please repeat
AdFire: Roger your K-1 mobile
Appliance: Yes we are mobile. Whats K-1 mean?
Adfire: Roger your mobile

SOP 7.1 Dated August 2011 says K-Codes are not to be used by CFS resources.....

I think the two significant fires Region 2 had yesterday gave SACAD a real test

Buckland Park development would be having an influence on where any new station may be built too

SAMFS / Re: Gawler covering Kapunda
« on: February 01, 2011, 06:30:36 AM »
It's no different to the Northern YP MFS stations calling on Adelaide resources for a prolonged incident. Specifically with this tho, change KAP641 to GAW351. CFS take over Kapunda in a land swap deal with Salisbury CFS to reducing their daily stop on call quota. That way station 35 can respond to calls anywhere between Kapunda, Freeling, Roseworthy, Hamley Bridge, Wasleys, Mudla Wirra, Redbanks, Mallala, Two Wells....... and still have sufficient fire/rescue cover for Gaweler without COQ. They do seem to be coming further out these days.

Completly agree if we had a big enough fund to implement it. Til then, drop the ego, forget any wanna be type behaviour and co-ordinate a response. I'ts not hard to tell AdFire your busy and can't take further calls. It's all there in the MOU's

Contact Adelaide Fire to either upgrade the response to your first job or default your second job to another brigade. (Correct me if I'm wrong please) AdFire will keep sending jobs to a brigade until they say no more. Thats what an OIC does... If your the OIC make sure you have balls and make the decision......

I agree Alex - 2 Brigades minimum for a reported structure fire within the town. Oustide of the town include a couple of BWC's. There's still plenty of fixed alarms out there with a single brigade response too. We're guilty I know....

Wasn't "ragging on TTG for using them". I'm be happy to use K-Codes but the rule book clearly says no CFS crew are to use them (CFS, EMA or MFS area)
BTW - Does anyone know the history behind K-Codes? Are the recognised world wide, Australia wide or SAMFS?

ALERTS Phone call was for a minibus rollover with five occupants near Main North rd and the pager message told us 3 kms from Main North Rd. Turned out to be 3 kms from HB Station. No traditional entrapments or serious injury however with handicap people involved it becomes a very different rescue. Got a phone call of thanks the following day to say all occupants are ok.

What about those GO's and DGO's who's SMD#1 has expired but they are still operating on the fireground? Does someone up the tree cross check the AIRS listed personel against SMD#1 accreditation in TAS?

This round of flooding, could have easily been handled as good as a bush fire.

oh dear God no...please don't let us accept that level of management....

HA i know what your suggesting....Yes Bushfires too have failed management :P

And recently!

I stand to be corrected, but I didn't see SES at Stockport until Wednesday morning. Light strike team arrived as the Gilbert river broke, but before that it was Wakefield Plains CFS who were doing the work with citizens. Same thing occurred a couple of months ago - no SES to be seen until after the event
