Have a watch of that video, it would be somewhat similar to our Sprinter ambulances I would imagine :)

As a new volunteer, I think it would be good for the Government to reimburse employers for the time they give their staff to volunteer.

I for one know that if I would not lose income to volunteer, then I would do more shifts at the station, but for someone like me who is studying full time, I need every paid shift I can get my hands on, and unfortunately that means I cant volunteer as often as I'd like.

That's the thing about this forum, it'll end up heading into one of 4 directions:

1) how bad/dodgy private PTS companies are
2) how bad Paramedic grads are
3) how slack the SES are
4) CFS using K-Codes

:P

Being an orderly springs to mind :P 2 days training and off you go!

I must admit, all this talk makes me nervous. I am trying to do as much as is humanly possible to get as much experience in the field before I graduate (at the detriment to other things in my life):

A) So I can hopefully improve my chances of getting an Internship
and B) (more importantly) So that when I finish and I do get an internship I feel more confident in my other skills (communication, driving, SAAS procedures etc) so that I can focus on making sure I can get my Paramedic practice upto scratch.

However I still kind of think I am gonna be looked at as a filtered Graduate who has no idea about anything. There is nothing more I can do to make sure I am better prepared, so how can that be a poor reflection on me? Its kind of like hating someone as soon as you meet them because they barrack for a different footy team than you do.

A fairly frequent news topic is that of young drivers and their over representation in the serious injuries and road death tolls.

I thought it would be interesting to see a few people's opinions on this topic. We have quite a broad cross-section here so it would be good to see what you have to say.

Is it just a part of life? Are the kids who don't have the presence of mind or maturity to understand the power of their vehicle, their lack of experience/skill and the ramifications of their actions the ones to die?

As a young driver myself, I never wanted to drive risky because:

A) I don't want to die and I wouldn't be able to handle it if I killed or injured a friend or someone in another vehicle.
B) I couldn't afford to fix my car if I damaged it and it was a gift from my grandpa, so it is sentimental to me.
C) I have family friends that have told me many stories of young drivers killing themselves or their friends and I would be embarrassed if I did something the similar
D) I also think people who drive stupidly are just pathetic and have no respect for themselves or other people
E) I couldn't afford to lose or delay my licence for my career choice and I couldn't afford to pay the fines!

Lookin forward to what you have to say!

Four hurt in bus rollover near Hamley Bridge

    * From: AdelaideNow
    * January 17, 2011 4:35PM

FOUR people have been taken to hospital after a disability services bus rolled north of Adelaide.

Emergency services were called to Hamley Bridge Rd, three kilometres from Hamley Bridge, just before 3pm, where the mini-bus left the road and rolled.

The four have been treated at the scene and are expected to be taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital.

That was a bit harsh MedBoy...

Is there something between you two outside this forum?

I'm merely wondering why a van would be left unattended for days, not making any comment about the companies patient care......

I remember V2! It was used as a chase car for the first lap of all races (at least all support races).

Even though the only event there has been Summerdayze and the vehicle was parked there well before? Would you leave a van that presumably has some medical equipment in it unattended for days?

Hey guys,

I hate to bring private companies up again, but I've noticed that there has been a Paramedical Services ambulance sitting near the intersection of East and North Tces. It was parked on the parklands side where you have to pay and display but now it's out the front of ETC in a loading zone or something. It's been there days, maybe even a week. I don't know if it moves during the day, but its been there every night. Anyone got any ideas?
