Title: end of 2011 Fire Danger season dates

Just curious on other peoples opinion, because I am only seeing a small part of the state.

Would the CFS shorten the 2011 Fire Danger Season by nominating a early end date ?

I can see green under the grass through the Fleurieu Peninsula & thus I think it would not burn fiercely if on fire.

But CFS at 1205 today went to Severe LOP for the state. I assume this was for lightening risk ?

What are your observations & opinions ?

mmmmm yea you could possibly be right especially with another significant rainfall event forecast in the next day or so. So it seems we may have gotten through yet another Season with out "THE BIG ONE". Maybe if DENR have an "over achievment" like there friends in Mexico yesterday things might fire up.  :roll:

I understand that talks are well under way to lift the season early and also to look at how Victoria can lift their season early with out too much fuss....ye it will still burn public just need to becareful...

QDD10 all. The Chief Officer has signed off on the recommedation to terminate the Fire Danger Period in District 10 effective from 0100hrs on Monday 14 March 2011. This date was recommended to the Chief Officer following consultation with Group Officers, DSE, MFPOs & HVP. We will continue with paging the weather each afternoon until the 14th at this stage. He does look alot happier and they do have lots of MONEY to spend on a fire service...

Received an email this afternoon originating from HQ saying fire danger season will finish in all districts midnight 31st March

Think the permit issues were getting cramp filling out paper work :D
