Title: Burnside ??
Post by: Alan J on October 21, 2012, 05:02:52 PM
I have now had it verbally from three different directions, yet read
nothing whatsoever, official or unofficial, that Burnside CFS is no more.
Gone.
Closed doors for ever.
Handed area & hardware off to MFS & top-of-the-hill brigades.

Now, neither Burnside CFS nor Mt Lofty Group strike me as the sort of
people who would let the brigade go silently into the night.  Nor does
even a casual glance at their response area suggest that this would be
either practical or even a good idea.

Is anyone on list in a position to confirm / debunk this story?

cheers

Well I happen to drive past their station on Sat morning on my way to Waterfall Gully, all looked normal, no "For Sale" signs showing.  :-D

With a state hazmat appliance being there I cant see it either.  Is Glen Osmond 441 based there whilst their new station is built, and could some people have seen this and making their own conclusions.

Hahahahahaha, hahahahahaha, hahahahahaha......

You may have heard it from 3 sources but they probably all heard it from same person to start with...

As a member of Burnside and the DGO with Burnside in my portfolio of responsibilities, I can confirm the station is still there, still full of members, appliances still booked online, still training weekly and no one has changed the locks, nor has there been any discussion of such events. Sorry to disappoint but whoever was waiting to bid on Burnside Pumper may just need to find another truck....

Ta
Stefan

Been there, done that before.
Got a great 34P out of it but had to fight HQ at every step.
And they weren't even paying for it...
