What happens if salisbury's area needed the pump rescue?

It's called change of quarters, doesn't just apply to pumps.

Ahh k, didnt realise there used to be a 334 back in the day.

Doesn't hurt to have some basic knowledge.

It may also have something to do with bomber support, although im not sure that Pt Lincoln SES participate in that.

I think them amount of fires re-attended by CFS / DEH over the years, far out-weighs those re-attended by SAMFS.

Unless your saying its okay, because your not Professional in the CFS??

-Didn't think so...

Oh... i dunno....   :-)

I can't understand why it took so long to get the 339 when it was already made up. They still haven't added a winch/tirfor, yet it still took about a month to prepare this appliance.

Whats the rush 206? Elizabeth have never had a rescue before and still coped... The same number of appliances were still on the road. Take a little extra time and get the appliance up to spec properly before sending it out as the 9.

Badjas - VMR did not attend this one.

The ERV is manned by crew from 281 & 2814

Interesting to note that according to the media, the police rescued one stranded boat... and yet no mention of MFS then assisting to tow them [SAPOL] back to mooring. Media gag??

Brooklyn Park, busy, hahahaha

Don't you laugh Darren... by far the busiest stations must be Largs, Port Adelaide or the Hill...

Doesn't the last line in message tell the story?

Not really... the appliance code itself is whacked... BPK = brooklyn park and yet 21 is beulah.

Hah, the day you guys get a jet, then you can probably complain about that one, but until then, the closest aerial was responded... also, try 6 years.

The closest aerial would of been adelaide who have more than one aerial appliance.

Indeed.... siuce there are only three stations in the state with aerials.

Yikes... default to the next closest??? I think not... Time to break some old habits boys.

Reminds me of a big fire I heard of in Blackwood once, in the last year or two..

Old habits do indeed need to be broken.. ;)

Matty - thats exactly what i was pointing out. The COQ to the hill would have been much closer.

Not on a c-risk unless specifically requested mr 206. Surely the jet got used for that anyway, or could have been if necessary at all.

As a comms operator with SAMFS, would have to say a couple of positives are definitely shift structure & leave system.

Official toll now 126 [as at 1442]... terrible loss of life. It's incredible to see towns literally wiped out.

All the best to CFA & all fire services assisting, wish i could have headed over to help in whatever way possible.

Edit: Also may i add, for those concerned that CFS are not sending anything and everything. We can only offer our assistance, not self-deploy. The Victorian authorities have to accept. I'm sure if they require further assistance it will go, as it always does.

Interesting to see a 203 & a 2011 on the run at the same time. Considering 2011 only normally shows up when the jet is offline.

643
Not worth arguing mate...

As i said.. Scanner jockeys can stand down.

644
Might need to put your glasses on then...

I dont see how sending 332 back to there own station, once 32 had an appliance home is "too reliant on 332".

I may just be over-tired though.

645
I think we might have a slight idea what we're doing...

Scanner jockeys can stand down.... Ta.

Edit; i might just add to this... since you cant see MDT messages, perhaps you have no idea what's going on in the big picture?

Quote
FIRE crews are on red alert as a "large" fire burns in the Onkaparinga gorge south of Adelaide.

The fire started about 5pm and is heading towards Chapel Hill Rd.
Eight crews and three water bombers have been sent to tackle the fire and strike teams are being organised.

A message to a CFS crew at 5.17pm stated "all members be aware large fire at Gorge please be prepared".

The fire is burning up steep terrain and is "fairly inaccessible

Hah, and some people dont think the media are watching EVERYTHING...

Whoop, forgot to add that to my post, the saw must also have a properly fitted spark arrestor on the exhaust system.

SASES / Re: Grass fire risk with chainsaws
« on: January 25, 2009, 04:09:15 PM »
Mmmm i would suggest the main risk would be associated with poorly fitted exhaust systems, or the chain striking a rock/nail/spike/etc...

Per the book, during the FDS or on a TFB day,  operator must have a 4m clearance of combustible materials, or hand tools available. And a water spray or other extinguisher on site.

I guess your own personal fire truck is even better though ;)

So pretty much right now the situation is:

Entrapments job Brukunga                 > Mt Barker Rescue
Entrapments job Morphett St, Mt Barker   > Stirling  Rescue

I think you'd find that's the situation even if they had the RIV Zippy.  As far as I know, RIV is not counted as a rescue resource, so a full rescue stowage would be responded anyway.

Per the book, 100% correct.

I guess the thing to remember is that we are there as the CFS, so if it was CFS field uniform then sure.... but random cargo pants and who knows what shirt probably doesn't cut it.

At the end of the day, if you can't wear your PPE and walk for 30mins in the sun, then its time to re-evaluate things anyway considering one of our core businesses is running around the place chasing grassies.
