Yank 34 is a different chassis to the Blackwood one.

Yank 34 was part of a batch built by Moores - the others in the same batch included Kersbrook, Kangarilla, Echunga, Mallala, Jervois, Browns Well, Freeling, Kingscote, McLaen Flat, Moorak, Moorook, Mount Graham, Yahl, One Tree Hill and more...

Although the I recall that the design did change as the build went ahead....

SAAS / Re: ECP Model to be rolled out on Limestone Coast
« on: November 09, 2012, 09:39:30 AM »
Isn't part  of the reason ECP's were introduced was because of the shortage of doctors, available to come out & do house calls?

And because the doctors couldn't get there ( or couldn't get there in a timely fashion) the patient would be sent to Emergency Depts, for non Emerg things?

I understand that in Mount Gambier, it is often a few weeks before you can get into see a GP (unless something has changed recently) - so by having something like an ECP, it'll free up doctors to do things ECP's can't!!

As for RDNS - wasn't it only in the last few years, there were several media reports about lack of funding to RDNS, and how RDNS were not going to be able to keep up with demand for their services?

And as for Masters degree qualified people doing the job as an ECP - are you saying that they are too over qualified?  If that is so, what should they be doing instead?

I don't know alot about this whole topic, but my understanding of ECP's is that they do a lot more than the RDNS Nurses.

ECP's do things such as suturing (except for faces) and re-inserting catheters.

These type of treatments are often the sorts of things that the elderly get sent to Emerg Departments, sit there for hours on a busy night, as they are not considered urgent, and effectively clog up an Emergency bed, before eventually being treated & sent back home / Nursing home.

If an ECP, (or some other relevantly trained health care professional) can do those jobs in the patient's home / nursing home, without the need for an ambulance trip to hospital, clogging up a bed in the Emerg Dept, and then an ambo trip back home, isn't that a good thing for everyone involved ?

Country Fire Service / Re: Deductible Gift Recipient tax status cancelled
« on: October 22, 2012, 07:01:51 AM »
As I understand it, changes in rules relating to tax deductability, by the tax office, would mean a lot more work by brigades / groups to comply.

With only a small number of brigades actually taking advantage of tax deductability status, a decision was made to remove it, hence saving headaches etc for the finance people

Wow, the brigade duty officer gets a duty phone ?!!!  Where do I get one of those from?

It might work that way in your brigade BundyBear, but it is different in mine.

However the process is simple - pager goes off, someone acknowledges the page, appliance goes mobile in acceptable time.  If no crew / not enough, you request a default.  Simple.

And how about adding a 44 to that mix... lots of water, bugger all equipment - which is all a large number of single appliances stations across the state could do with...

Add to that a number of smaller stations in the Adelaide Hills (like mine!) that need something small enough to get around the area, but large enough to carry say 2 BA (currently rural - urban classification, as opposed to urban - rural!)

And again, many areas need Bulk Water carriers,

The list you have there BundyBear is pretty close to the fleet that CFS builds now (although one could argue the numbers of each type being allocated could be changed!)

SA Firefighter General / Fire service emptying swimming pools
« on: September 03, 2012, 03:48:06 PM »
I often get queries from members of the public, wanting to know if the CFS will assist in emptying their swimming pool - and some wanting to know if CFS will then fill it up again!

So, I pose the question (out of curiosity, rather than necessity) would your brigade assist in emptying a swimming pool - not an emergency pump out, nor utilising it for a water supply at a fire, but just because the owners want to empty the pool to conduct maintenance.

If your brigade would assist, would you want a donation for it?

The problem is a capacitor in the Fire Station Interface box..... causes the message to be sent, but they don't actually have a power failure.

Relatively easy job for a tech to fix.....

or fits better into some existing stations...... ?

Pip

No.

They were supposed to get one - date all determined, and for whatever reason, it was not delivered, and I believe reallocated to another brigade.

Pip
Ok surprised its deemed available in SACAD if they didnt get it.

Soo if it made it as far as being entered in to CAD and than at last minute was not delivered it must have been a drastic change in appliance allocation for this to happen??

Dunno.... I just get told when they are due for delivery, and then once they are delivered......
