Title: Can GRN pager be configured to receive interstate ?
Post by: bajdas on July 21, 2006, 03:37:34 PM
Thanks for the quick reply to my question last time. Currently I am working with a group of volunteers in modifying training materials to the "SES GRN / Comms" course.

I noticed this pager message:
14:07:24 21-07-06 I KNOW YOU ARE IN MELBOURNE PLS CALL IAN MITCHELL (phone#) TO CATCH UP FOR DRINKS

Does this mean GRN pager messages can be received while interstate ? If so, is this because we go through Link, thus we use part of their network ?

Thanks in advance for your help...

I think you will find that you can get a GRN page up to 100 150 km over the border,I do a run for work into Victoria on a Monday and my pager has gone off in Hamilton,Portland and Horsham..

just over the border maybe, but in general no, certain people are able to get their pager messages diverted to SMS on their mobile though.

don't you mean 6%er? hahaha kidding. seriously, you say its your watch. why don't you just buy a cheap watch, you wouldn't get in as much poo if you lost a cheap watch rather than a GRN pager. imagine "where was the last place you saw it?"  "oh, at the bakery somewhere in Wagga Wagga."

hahahahaha just kidding mannywell

as has been said, just over the border may work (obviosuly to  a range of about 100km heading east) but in general they will not recieve mesages interstate...

You could be getting GRN messages re-paged from GRN pagers to your personal 'Orange' pager like someone is doing, the 'Orange' network extends to most capital cities.

Interestingly this person is re-paging most response messages from Region One to their own pager, surely that would drive you nuts after a day or two.
