still why would CFS want to take RCR away from SES?

wouldnt it be better for a service who can leave one job to respond to a RCR. its a bit hard to release a CFS truck from a going fire least a SES crew can leave a storm job for a RCR.

at the end of the day it dosent matter who dose it however in built up area (metro) MFS should be RCR regardless of who is around them as they have a much faster turnout time. and in rural areas SES provide RCR except where it is to far for the nearest SES to provide RCR as primary response and hence CFS rescue responds. with SES backing up if required and same with CFS

well in saying that, wouldnt it be beneficial for both services to be trained up for RCR. because its not always a ses can leave a storm damage, they do more then that. ie land search.
just a thourght, because logically it would be better, then you have a second reponse unit aswell either way.

SASES / Re: Could CFS brigades form SES units?
« on: December 23, 2007, 02:16:04 PM »
i said wat i did, because i know the little rural cfs tend to do the local fallen trees. thats the way it is, because thats all there is, it is seen to be helping the community, and well a fallen tree, can turn out to be a carVs fallen tree so we cant aslways wait for the closest SES to get there.
but basically if the CFS can help the community by cutting up a fallen tree, i honestly think that the could help the community by doing a land search for locals and wat not. so i just thourght it makes sence!

anyways.

its funny coz that thourght came to me the other day aswell.

i know the more rural cfs do a lot of the fallen trees and are RCR responce and stuff, but if they could under take a little more training they could help out with land searches and stuff Storm and Flood damage. it makes sence, and well it would be easier then sending crews from else where. it would be local knowledge and stuff aswell.

yeh my opinion only!

okay  i get where everyone is coming from...
but...MACK ... wat about a spare of hands for traffic control at a RCR or something. i mean it would be usefull, and yes i do understand not knowin them but think about it, most of the time we go to RCR's we dont know them and they still trust us all

Siren will help in many ways, one it tells the public we are still there,it also alerts those members who have gone out with out their pagers and last of all it also alerts any other cfs members who are in town that we have a job and they may come and help....

i have a question...im a newbie, and a baby.
but anyway if your actually in a different brigade, but are somewhere else when the other siren goes off, are you allowed to go see if the other brigade needs more hands?

just curious

yes,agree with chook.
its great starting young, because the older members are usually mroe then happy to take us under there wing and teach us things. they mentor us and are so willing to help us.
because they obvisouly know that they arent going to be around for ever to run the brigade, so why not start training the next generations. that way we know all the tricks of the trade as well!

cheers!
