The gap is when there is no Station/Group Base open.

that is where the personal notebook would come in Zippy, or if its important, adelaide fire on the regional.

Seen something in the latest vollie mag.  only glanced at it so not sure what the full story is.

hmmm just had a gander at that.... the impression i get from that is for it to be used as a station log book...

Mack, the red occurance books you mentioned, are *all* vollies meant to get these?

i dont think any are... maybe IMTs and station logs. im interrested to hear which kind of books we are talking about.

maybe you should have a re-read...

SOP 2.8
Responding SA Police to Vehicle Accidents, Fires and Other Emergencies

"this SOP relates to vehicle accidents, all fire types: structure (including electrical), rubbish bins, vehicle fires, brush fence fires, explosions and rural type fires."

Seriously? You always driver a truck like that? Sorry that is BS! Driving P1 or 2 may be the same in the City (I doubt it) but driving a 12 tonne truck @ 130 is not the same as normal driving!
And motorist act differently when they see the lights or hear the siren & its not predictable what they will do.
Add adrenaline, middle of the night & apprehension/fear into the mix and disaster is just around the corner.
And if you think I don't know what I'm talking about, hold a federal advanced driving certificate & over 25 years in heavy vehicles including some very specialised ones.
ALL emergency service drivers should have specialist training it is unfortunate that our collective services choose not to provide it.
cheers

i think you missinterpreted his post entirely mate.

Thas like SOP 2.8 that states SAPOL should be called for all incidents but a lot of brigades dont bother

all "fire" incidents...

if your appliances are going to be tied up for a while at an incident, you can always ring adelaide fire and book your brigade offline. otherwise as safirey said, theyll continue to page you.

1909195 18:40:30 08-11-07 TANKER IS NOW OFF LINE UNTIL IT CAN BE JUMP STARTED, DUE TO VHF BEING LEFT ON. WE ARE NOW DOWN TO 1 APPLIANCE. THANKS RAY FOR ORGANISING IT FOR TOMORROW.LT2 CFS: Salisbury
Don't you guys use isolators & trickle chargers? If you don't no what I'm talking about have a look at the RHS of the SES Isuzus

salisbury does have isolators on all trucks BUT for some reason the vhf on tanker is not isolated by it and has its own switch that needs to be turned off.

we had the same problem the other day, someone forgot to isolate our 24, which had the crew push starting it to get a second appliance out for a grassfire...

always ammusing.

Uniden, we take a 'rescue' truck to every vehicle accident, but dont necessarily use rescue gear... a skyjet, like those in service with SAMFS at the moment, can also be used simply as a pump.

The boom is just one of the perks of that apparatus.

Mack thankyou for pointing out the obvious

no problems ;)

the brigades you list are not particularly close to aerial appliances, when you actually consider where these MFS resources are stationed.

USAR? why would we want to take over an SES job ;)

anyway, CFS areas that could benefit from them, but as i previously stated, i cant imagine it ever happening.

what's this got to do with "CFS facing lawsuit over black tuesday" ??

the media are going to turn up at any incident they feel like, and unless you help them out, they will put there own spin on the job.

re; black tuesday/coronial media coverage, of course the media are going to put there own spin on it and only publish the negatives... everyone loves to fling dirt at government organisations. i wouldnt listen to a word of it really.

ahhh but were not talking about neighbouring crews "inter-mingling" at a job, nor are we talking about cooperation between services...

were talking about a person, youve never seen before in your life, rocking up at your station because they heard the siren sound, claiming to be a member of the CFS from wherever, then expecting to get on your appliance as part of your crew. If you would let them on, your an exteremely trusting person.

Pip - glad someone's on "my side"

cheers

i trust the people in my brigade and other members of the services that i have met and spent some time with...

Chook, would you trust me with your life if i just rocked up at your station one day and expected to jump on the truck?
