This article was published in this weeks Hills Courier newspaper, thought you might find it interesting.

Somehow I can't see Burnside Pumper being relocated to another brigade, so no sense "drooling" over it. :-D Regardless of the level of risk you think you might have in your area.

Country Fire Service / 12-13 New Appliance Program

I see the March edition of Arthur's Infralog is out and it states that: "One RCR Vehicle, one 14, a Bulk Water Carrier Hook-lift Pod, Urban Pumper and Type 44
are under construction". These are all on top of the ongoing supply of 34's. So who's getting a new Urban Pump then? No doubt the guessing will soon begin!

Your specific situation is different. You also has duty of care responsibilities over the cadets, which is why I would hazard a guess for why the decision was made not to respond (short crewed) and leave the cadets unsupervised in the station.

Of course you would notify ADLFIRE to inform them that you have just been notified (verbally) of an incident (they may not have it logged yet due to the normal delay between SAAS and ADLFIRE) More importantly they can then book you to the job in SACAD.

Well come to think of it, some RAAF Bases have had a privatised contracted ARFF service for some years now,I think Transfield provide the service at present, seems to work there.

Here is an interesting idea for debate, found this article on the UK Mirror News website:

Fire sale: Secret Government bid to privatise fire and rescue services revealed
8 Feb 2013 00:00. A minister has called for new laws that “would enable fire and rescue authorities in England to contract out their full range of services to a suitable provider” For the full story go to:

[have you got this in writing Adda??.......Flame is this true??]

I have seen it somewhere recently, but cannot recall where. However, I was present at a meeting with the current CFSVA president when the he made that exact statement as an excuse to why the CFSVA wouldn't become involved in a certain "operational" issue involving our brigade.

Wouldn't SACAD issues be considered "operational"? If so CFSVA won't get involved, because they apparently don't want to get involved in operation issues! Same thing goes for training!  :x

Just have to read the SFEC discussion papers that are up on the CFS members site to get an indication of where some members wish the CFS to go in the future. Seems quite confusing at the moment, on one side you have the Chief writting bloggs stating that the CFS also does all these Urban type response roles such as chemical spills and RCR, then we have these clowns trying to turn us back into a "Bush Fire Brigade".

Certainly not presenting a united front.
