I'm looking at the Infrasys E380 with TAC grip 3. Comes in a hard case. MFS have just bought 5, so hopefully this will be on the right track to what would be good.

Where have the MFS these cameras? Are you sure?

I've noticed the SAAS pager messags have now taken off the Created time stamp. Some of the fall out from Crystal Brook perhaps??

What happened in Crystal Brook?

Many have replied with wish lists for brigades, that I would be interested to see their selection process as to which brigades would receive this new equipment.  If this was to occur the money would soon evaporate & the trinkets would soon be obsolete.
A more long term solution would be to put all brigade funds into a trust account whereby 80% of the interest generated was used to fund the training of fire fighters. Then it would generate income for years to come & perpetually provide a revenue stream to benefit all brigades.

Country Fire Service / Re: Trigger for CFS to change to MFS
« on: December 19, 2010, 07:52:19 AM »
Rainer,
There has to be political will and money for anything to change in Mt Barker. the CFS are very proud Executives are very proud of the station as demonstrated  by their attendance at that paint shop fire awhile back. It was only a shed and they turn up, why? The  fire service in Mt Barker will never be fully paid either in our life time there is no political will or money to justify that. As for Aerials think about it guys ! Do the maths, divide Adelaide's population in MFS area by the population of Mt Barker then compare it to  the number of Aerials in MFS area on duty at any one time. Mt barker has grow a lot more for an aerial to be justified by population alone but risk is a different story. For example Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Mt Gambier all have large industrial risk requiring aerials. But Port Pirie has none.
go to go back soon

ALL Rescue / Re: Dash Roll with B pillar removed.
« on: November 03, 2010, 07:26:44 PM »
The main issue with chains is the inspection after use and annual testing. In a detailed letter from a manufacture they stated the testing process for chains is not conclusive and relates to the loads the chains have been exposed too. Chains for steering have been fazed out for some time as stated earlier due to adjustable steering columns, because a catastrophic chain failure would result in fragments flying everywhere. Whereas a dash roll/ lift using spreaders pushing the dash away and is backed up by the addition of wedges into the relief cut. Then if the tool fails the dash only returns and rests on the last wedge.

Are incident stats still used by CFS to determine the number/type of appliances a brigade should have?

Rainer  all concepts of utopia start with a brave few daring to dream. If the group of 1010 could focus on the next step towards utopia, now that would be a dream!!!!!!!   I am brave but Rainer are you willing to lead?

SA Firefighter General / Re: Open letter to the SES
« on: September 21, 2010, 08:34:55 PM »
The point was why do the SES respond past the local fire station when they could deal with the situation.  A sensible point of view? There must also be a point in time when any Officer can no longer justify a P1 response because the notification was too long ago. So in the situation where multiple jobs are received and their are no resources left to respond tells Comms to send someone else.  Because asking for help is not a failure.

I am interested in how you determined the units in attendance - personal involvement, off air decoding, GRN analysis or something else. It could be useful if there is a simple method of coming by this info.

anyone going to answer Dave's valid question?
