Did any of you fill out and return the "When is the emergency over" questionnaire the VFBA sent out?

It's not a trial. If Brigades want the system they purchase it and use it.

So is it right to think that this "service" that is being provided to the community has each brigade/station/crew? doing its own thing?

I would call it an "In house service" rather than a direct service to the community. No impact to the community, only a logistical in house tool for the Brigade.  Was TIMS a Brigade doing it's own thing? Look how that turned out...absolutely brilliant, with more than several stations adopting the system, not just of the CFS variety either.

It depends on how many job your Brigade does per year and the amount of vollies you have using the system. I contacted FFRS and they said they are finalising costs for Australia.  Funny since they have already sold a system here!

Never mind, I found this.

Probably in relation to the trial of the new pager acknowledgment procedure, a few CFS, SES and retained MFS stations are trialing it starting on Monday (15th). Basically acknowledging the page with link paging, who will then page Adelaide Fire with the name of the brigade and the person that called. A message then pops up on their screen with the details.

Will mean that many more operators are able to take the calls than currently exists in Adelaide Fire, one of the problems on a big day (and sometimes not even a big day) is that you can't through to acknowledge.

Thanks mattb

Nothing to do with SACAD, its a trial in response to those brigades who have complained they can't get through on the phone...it certainly has its bugs....wouldn't rely on it at all.

Can't get thru to who on the phone...AF?
How does this system work. What does the member need to do to ack?

Hi all,
What is the go with these messages.  I have seen several from different CFS Brigades and SES Units. Who does that page go to? Is it a part of TIMS?

SA FIRE & RESCUE: PAGER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. INCIDENT NUMBER 43. CFS - HAPPY VALLEY. (PERSON'S NAME), LT2 - Call Out Acknowledgement

Moved back from SAFECOM. Each agency has their own media people now (as it was before), not a media mob trying to cover all services. But....haven't seen or heard from them in a while.

Can someone please tell what the 321/001 is on this page. It is not included with the original page but is generated in the second AF page.

The phone in system alone would be great for semi rural Brigades. I know when we get a job I get at least 5 phone calls from members saying "They are on their way - be there in 5 minutes". However the complete TIMS may not be viable due to rural roads etc.

Have the missed/garbled messages been logged including location, time etc?
Evidence is required so the problem can be fixed.  I have members complaining to me that the pager is no good when in fact it is an environmental issue, such as the pager is close to another electronic source creating a garbled message.
As Mike said, CFS are looking into making improvements.

Hi Matt,
It's been some tim since TIMS was spoken about on here.

Have there been any developments or issues with the system?
What were the final costings of the system?
Could the system handle rural/remote Brigades when SACAD arrives in relatioin to maps etc?
Would Rural Brigades benefit from TIMS?
Have any other Brigades adopted TIMS?

This is a great initiative the Morphettvale Brigade have adopted and I am interested to see how it is all going a few years on.

As for brigades having pagers, and hence not needing sirens...it'd be great if the pagers worked consistently, but they don't - within my Group area there are numerous dead spots for pagers, and a siren is very helpful for actually advising members of call (since the pager often won't!)

Agree with Pip on this one.

And back to the original question, I'm guessing, no, AF are not "meant" to be activating sirens with the URGMSG string...but will if asked nicely?

I saw one of these the other day.  Channel 7? (not sure if News or Today Tonight) are doing a story on them.
Anyone got any info about the bikes and the service they will provide...I presume first response.

Thanks.

I have cancelled my subscription, which isn't easy, the mag seems to just arrive!!

Have you logged on to the Members Only section of the CFS website? To apply/leave subscriptions (Volunteer mag, SMS alerts and email alerts) is all on there.  Simple as checking a box.
