BA

Have to have BFF1, been in a BA brigade for 1 year.

RCR

Have Senior first aid, BFF1 and been in a rcr brigade for a year.

Then of course you need to be under state limits on operators!

Every brigade is different in what they let new members do..... This is all i will say

Hi All,

The addresses are going to the region i think. Well i get the Region 2 one anyway. We dont get the statewide one like all the Chiefs do anymore (mailbox that is).

I Wish that most people would stop thinking that all young people are the SAME!!!!!!! Not all of us take drugs, or drive their cars like maniaks.... I could start saying that all old people are grumps and hate every young person, but i wont because i know that they ARE NOT! We have to stop saying they all dont give a crap and open your eyes further than that. We have multiple young guys and girls in our brigade, just as dedicated and willing to "GIVE" as you "OLD" people. I certainly wonder after reading your some of the comments on here why i would want to volly at the age of 18. I put in just as much effort as everyone else and i am not allone.
We have to start encouraging people in anyway because that is the life of CFS! It will dissapear and loose all its skills if we do not train the younger people and hand down the skills that you have learnt.

All drivers in our brigade have undergone a driver training course (offensive manner). An instructor sat with them and went through most things.... This is driver training, the rest is common sense and to know your appliance limits and to stick well below them. Most CFS trucks have a high centre of gravity as the water tank and equipment and crew and.... is all placed high.
Hope this helped!

I normally watch the Ambos and if there is a VA in our area i normally have time to shower and shave before the pager goes off..... It normally takes 8 - 10 minutes here, i don't think that this acceptable. I notice that if CFS get the call first SAAS is responded normally no more than 2 minutes later??? What gives?

I tried the id file out to see what people though. I am getting a few mixed opinions from people about tags versus no tags? I am thinking of trying to get another one going as well but it could take a little bit of time yet.

Hi Guys and Girls,

Just at a point in time where i am looking at running a filter file on the Online pager feed. I was deciding between the following;

1. Current all addresses
2. CFS / MFS / SES
3. All filters from SA Scan Group Listing
4. Cropped list of filters

Also for option 2 & 3 names would need to be removed to keep it sort of private  :-D

Thanks From Sam
P.S. Any replies helpful

CFS Cadet Corner / Re: what is going on with cadets?
« on: January 08, 2006, 11:54:45 AM »
Hi All,

I was nearly 17 when i went to my first fatal. In my brigade the officers make the decisions about what you should and shouldn't be involved in. I trust their decision on this. When we arrived we could see it was fatal and i was told to go and operate the pump in order to get out of sight. Later on one of the officers ask me if i would like to go for a walk and see what all the action was about!
It would be very nice if everyone could have an intro like that!
As for Cadet joining age i think it is normally a decision by the cadet and brigade officers. Cadets do not see much "action" but our bunch of cadets are pretty much there just to socialise, like scouts i surpose!

« on: January 08, 2006, 10:32:27 AM »
Hi All,

I have seen quite a few messages go out to REGION 1 STAFF or training officers..... that is it. Quote " Spare vacancies in this course.... on this date..."

I have never seen these go out to any other region, even nearby region 2 or 3 brigades!

There is so many wasted opportunities for people these days. I am all for the waiting list to be sent out. I also have to say that if i was booked in on a course and i went there and they said it was cancelled i would be p&#ed off.

Hi All,

We have been using the green gloves in conjunction with structural gloves. They have been ok, but we have noticed all the problems bought up here before. We are currently trying the new yellow structural gloves, and now the new white rural gloves. Not bad really.

Hi All,

I have determined the problem with the PC. I have PDW now running on a PC with windows 98. I have been getting very good quality with this. The network portion of the comuter has a few errors as it stops communicating with the internet, still works internally though. I have changed the card and i am now trying some other drivers. I have a celeron 800 that i am going to setup sometime on the weekend for this. The site used to run completely of my webserver at home, but now it FTP's to internodes server. I may host it from internally but with only 256k up broadband and my audio stream running the 200kb pager file becomes huge!

Anyway i will post you with progress, and thankyou all for your support.

Hi Guys,

The online pager log is stopping sometimes due to my PC having a few errors. I am slowly trying to weed these out :) It should be auto updating now, sometimes.

The online audio stream is now set running with AUSTRUNK. This is great as i have set priorities on certain tg's. So it basically drops the ambo conversation for the fire action!

Just on a note the pager site recieved 600 hits today! It is a record as yet, but as i said i am trying to sort out my problems so please forgive me :)

We have been trained in confined space out of CFS of our own back as we have a lot of wine tanks here, that people may fall in. It rarely gets used. We only have a tripod and harnesses, with 1 hooker line B.A set. As was stated our S.E.S would be most likely half and hour of more away.
