Read back in January that a book was released about the 2005 West Coast fires. Only thing was that it was a limited print run and all the copies were pre-sold. If anyone turns one up somewhere I would be very interested. There was no mention of a possible re-print.

The new 34`s are no higher than the CFA built ones. Maybe slightly longer though.

Not sure what you mean there Rob? The testing involved ensures that successful applicants are capable of fulfilling the requirements. Both physically and numeracy/literacy wise to complete all the training and reporting requirements. Some of the retained stations in the smaller towns have difficulty finding people who are available during the daytime, much like the CFS I guess.

Generally if it is a fire or MVA or similar and a CFS resource ia as close or closer than an MFS one the CFS will get called as per EMA agreement. I said generally , this does not always happen.

Time to merge the Gambier and Port MacDonnell CFS groups and call it the Grant CFS Group. Would encompass the entire council area too then...

Looking at the map book (Mt Lofty 96A) the Airfield is only slightly closer to Currency Creek than Goolwa so it would have made sense to send Goolwa as well anyway.

A spillage can be an enviromental danger as well as a danger to other motorists. We once went to an mva which happenned after a car slid out in a major spill of milk...

A clean up can include oil/coolant etc spills, which other agencies dont carry soakerall or similar readily on their vehicles. But the fire service does of course.

Does anyone know the answer to my original question. Is Mt Bryan running a different appliance now? The promo site lists the crashed one still.

Is Mt Bryan running a different appliance now. I believe the one that was in the rollover was pretty trashed.

Vic has a lot more streets/people/towns than SA. SA has a lot of wasteland and deserts.
