We have 2 in our area but can not get enough water from the line to use them properly. 1 is at a major high school the other at the large winery. Had them tested but they do not work properly they failed the test but that was 3 years ago nothing has changed. Hope we dont get any fires.

Incident Operations / Re: Dual response to storm or flood
« on: April 29, 2006, 03:39:43 PM »
Yes it would seem that we should get more info before saying a over kill. I hear SES where already out pumping water for flood, water was up to the middle of the door of the car, ther was also other places needing pumping. they had over 44mm of rain for them this is a lot.

Women of the Fire Industry / Re: women in the service's
« on: April 27, 2006, 10:01:15 AM »
We have 4 females in our brigade and it made one male member leave as they all got there before he could, so he would often miss the truck. Responce time was made quicker as most live closer now and no need to waite if we have 5 members on the truck.

Incident Operations / Re: Grape spills
« on: April 25, 2006, 04:25:06 PM »
Thats why our brigade would rather go to a grape spill.
i was told they got a call but had to pass it on to the council but they could not get anyone to do the job then this happened.  :? :?

Incident Operations / Re: Fire in station?
« on: March 28, 2006, 01:28:43 PM »
Not burnt down but have had two fires in the ststion luckly we where in the station just got back from a call out. When roller door was closed the motor and switch cought alight managed to put it out before too much damage was done only about $1000.
Second small fire was in the grey box on the wall with the siren and other stuff in that just started to burn on a trainning night just after pager and siren test.

All Equipment discussion / Re: Structural Boots
« on: March 21, 2006, 07:19:28 PM »
structural Taipan fire boots have the metal strip right through the sole of the boot. Taipan Wildfire boots don't have the metal strip. Both have steel caps and are very comfertable. Thats what our Group think any way.
