We use our siren only when we do not have enough crew on wail. Also on continues blast if the treated timber storage site is on fire as the town will need to be evacuated, so if the residence of the town hear that they know its time to start to get ready they may have to leave. Then they will get the police to tell them exactly when to go.

We had in our area once a 2 car M V A with a gas leak. Two amdo guys running around both cars on radio talking to there base before it closed down complaing about the smell of gas. 15 Min's after their page they asked for fire cover and had to cut the people out of the cars. Interesting listening to on the scanner.

There was an incident I heard of with a car fire no real fixed address and the GO went P1. They found the car full engulfed did not radio back to the truck, did not give directions or tell them how to get there via a short cut track until the truck got there then told them about it. Not right procedures as far as I'm concerned.

I have heard of a factory having to get a fire crew from their workers and they tried to get PBI Gold. The only thing that stopped them from getting it was the cost. So they got the nomex and it has CFS labels all over it.

Im a cadet at barmera station and we have recently been given a new 24p which has had a few minor problems with the pump but apart from that it looks great and runs hard

What problems have Barmera had with their 24P? I thought all was well there.

« on: November 07, 2005, 09:06:15 AM »
Not to sure how good they are as the drivers always say are they for me? Do I have to stop?. Even the driver who almost ran me down said he did not see the other two cars stopped ahead of him until the last moment so he went to go around them on the other side as a car was comming and then he saw me. The car stopped just as it hit the stop/slow bat I was standing behind.

Not to sure about that we have been trying to get more MR Licenses for our brigade for about 2 years no luck yet. We have three to go for test but they can not afford to do it themselfs.

Backburn, who is telling you Cairns are more expensive, we buy ours from Mercury and the price is more than competitive to Pacific, but I guess you pay for quality. In fact at one stage Mercury were cheaper as they are an MSA agent, MSA own Cairns.

The only price list I had showed the prices where more expensive. I received a price list with some of the stuff from Mercury today so I will be phoning them up on Monday. To get some.

« on: October 18, 2005, 09:01:56 PM »
The MFS don't need them, as they are all trained in everything.

Not to sure about that maybe in Adelaide but I know of one station where that may not be right. Only one is for Hazmat but they all still do it if needed.
But I don't see the need for the markings on the uniform maybe a colour stripe on the helmet.

I was told one brigade has refused to do it. All the members have said they can only sack us. Once should be enough it shows on there data base they have done it.
