When my brigade attended a House fire we where approached by a member of the public not happy no one knows why but he started to abuse us, as I was putting on my BA set he smashed me in the side of the head with something then as I tried to finish getting donned up he then punched me in the face. My husband was also trying to get donned up and was shocked by what had happened but we had to keep moving as we had three gas bottles venting. When the police arrived they took him away but did not charge him with anything pity.

I just feel sorry for any "vertically challenged" (no offence intended :-)) people who have to work with the new 34/34P appliances. We have a few members of which the passenger door of a 34P opens above their heads completely. No ducking required! HUGE!!! Soon brigades will need an aerial just to get crew in the truck!

Yes our group find them very high but the 34 from last years Isuzu are taller someone evan fell out of the front of the Isuzu last year and smashed there wrist over 100 fractures in the top of the bone there arm is now a little shorter.

[issue of Adelaide Fire calling the group ALERTS number to get acknowledgement of receipt of a response page. This one clearly hasn't been thought through and several problems with this approach were raised (it showed a lack of understanding by HQ staff about how many groups operate - which I have to point out could have been discovered by them earlier, and resolved, by consulting with the regional management committees]

What would the issue be?????

was told if you have dropped them from the truck or on to cement they should be replaced straight away. Structural and wildfire helmets have a life span of 5 to 7 years well thats what my group have said then we have to replace them after that.

One would hope it wasn't a command car doing the overtaking :-P :-D

the picture is correct only no other CFS vehicle involved only the public.

From what I hear it was only a minor incedent, as the fire truck was doing a right hand turn on to another road a car passed on the right and the car behind that one passed them on the left.  :?

that makes almost no sense

What I was told was Fire truck was turning right on to another road, 1st car behind fire truck overtook on right hand side to pass the fire truck, 2nd car behind fire truck over took or passed the truck on the left hand side.

The police check should not take more than 15 days from the day the police get the form, having said that it can take up 2 months which is far too long..with the new BFF1 if it gets of the ground the new member while waiting for the police check to come back can attend training and can attend fire calls after a mentor system...

as for port mac and the mount becoming one group how about port mac/mfs and mount group all become grant group.....

Well we had to wait 12 months for one person to get his police check to come back because he was in the Army for a while around 15 years and the normal police had to see what the military police had to say about him.  I thought you could not even do BFF1 with out the police check. Nor according to the Chief Standing Orders are you allowed to get on the truck for callouts.
