This is probably a bit of a stupid question, but do the Regional SAMFS areas like the mid north have a district officer? Cheers

No point of codes for CFS when everything has been working fine for the last few decades the way it is.

SA Firefighter General / Car vs Roo
« on: January 09, 2011, 06:16:46 AM »
Nearest police in my time was Clarendon but that has long since closed. Now it would be Darlington, Mt Barker or McLaren Vale? Somebody that way may correct me and RSPCA a long way away when an animal is suffering. Lets face it, when you are the only emergency service in town you get everything.

That area is part of the South Coast LSA, so the closest would have been McLaren Vale or Christies. And I agree with you, the suffering the roo goes through is terrible and it's not something nice to see.

SAAS / Re: SAAS Stations: Do we need more?
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:49:18 AM »
when i said western suburbs, i meant the glenelg area/beach suburbs  :-D

are there normally enough crews?

Marion, Brooklyn Park and Camden Park run one emergency ambulance out of station each. Lately Marion have been using ATS crews for assistance at cat A's. Also keep in mind crews at Asford control parts of the west too.

Do most stations run just one emergency ambulance?

As far as i know, 2 ambulances get despatched to cat A's? How how often are they both emergency ambulances with paramedic crews?

Are SAAS looking at employing more paramedics to reduce any sort of dependence on NEPT crews?

Answer to the first question is no. Fulham has multiple emergency ambulances, as does Cambelltown. Port Adelaide, Salisbury, Playford, Ashford, ect have two or more ambulances that attend emergencies. Some crews are ICP and others are paramedics.

Answer to the second question: Two Ambulances (in some cases 3)  are dispatched to cat A's. They might be SPRINT, designed to get to incidents quickly. To the best of my knowledge its rare to see an ATS crew attending emergencies, they are there for transfers.

And I'm not sure about the third questions.

But why isn't SOT paged for incidents, net call and other info that relate to them only, not medSTAR?

Are you sure the page is not a duplicate for the Adelaide Uni Road Crash Research unit.....

I don't think I have seen an actual page to the various doctors that attend.....

Pip

Well for DR2 for example, it is normally a Adelaide Uni Road Crash research. But I am lost on why incidents that require the MedSTAR chopper are not paged but they use the SAGRN system. I know the idea of a telephone is the most plausible explanation though, but it would make sense for them to be paged. A

SA Firefighter General / MedSTAR and SOT paging
« on: November 28, 2010, 05:03:42 PM »
Would anybody be able to explain to me why MedSTAR is not seen on the online pagers. You can always here radio contact between them and comms but when there are incidents requiring the chopper, MedSTAR are not paged (only CFS or SES to prepare landing ground). And also, SOT are not paged for general messages and net calls test pages.  :?

Does anyone know the call sign for medSTAR? I think SOT is SO174 but I think medSTAR is different.

SA Firefighter General / SAPOL Online Pager?
« on: November 26, 2010, 05:25:22 AM »
I was just wondering whether or not SAPOL have a paging feed online like the other emergency services. I understand that they use digitally encrypted radios, but is there still a live feed?
