South Australia is set to receive $1.4 million for fourteen projects to help reduce the impact and risk of natural disasters

Interesting that one of the projects is to install a new fire tower at Winters Hill.

i thought we had worked out that a fire tower is a waste of money in a mostly urban fringe(ish) area in the 21st century?

$70k isnt going to get you much of a tower and associated facilities....best the orange suited chaps get them harnesses comfy so that when they are hauled up the 30m flagpole with a tin can they dont get a cramp

just as well there arent any other higher real projects to throw good money after  :?

:-D No worries MT - I just don't know whats going on with Andrew Mac these days . My bigest concern would be trying to keep the "Orange Peril" from trying to abseil off the thing! And Boardy is right - where does their boat fit into all of this?
Have a good one cheers

one of these perhaps.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmNv65jJxdI&feature=related

Just make the runway a little longer, add a loop or two & a cork-screw
& charge the public $20 a seat...
