I think the reason behind them asking for crews from Region 4 is because out there its all outback with waist height grass so the brigades like Stirling North,Melrose and Wilmington have experience in fighting fires in the outback

perhaps the reason behind those brigdes going is because they are closest resources for a strike team not because they have outback experience  :?

Is it just me or does them asking you at 1800hrs for an 0800hrs start tomorrow for a 5 day trip seem abit unreasonable??

At least its not an 1800 hrs ask for a 2000 hrs start or a you have to go in 1/2 an hour.

The initial strike team went up to help with asset protection and some mitigation burning, with the relief crews doing mitigation and hazard reduction burns around Alice Springs, as well as being a rapid response team to any new fires.

Rapid Response: Sitting in the staging area for 8 hours. Done that.

Apologies for the late reply...

First strike team up was R4, followed by R2. R3 came to the party and the R4 crews flew home, replacement crews flown in. Rain came and spoiled the fun on R2s last day, all crews home on the 6/10...

Ashes, photos heading your way soon...

Actually crews are still on the ground up there, as well as command staff in the Bushfires NT EOC.

Looks like SACFS will be withdrawing at the end of the week, with vehicle retrieval now being organised......

My apologies, my info was for Innamincka complex of fires not the Alice fires...

I heard from the guys at Quorn today that Willmington sent a QRV up Nth towards Moomba this week with some other appliances.

Anyone with pictures for the gallery from this one?

DAK the location of the "Simpson Desert 2" fire mentioned on the CFS site. Is it just north of the border or in SA?

TIA

CFS is sending only QRV/QAV due to the sand conditions for the STRZELECKI and simpson  desert coz of some of trucks got boged in the sand and and then needing to get skull draged out of there by the dozes.

CFS standing down from Far North today, but there is talk if we need to go back up, it may be a task force rather than a strike force, sending up 3 QRV's with a 34 as water support or 2 qrv's / 2 34's.

Hi, sorry to bring an old thread up again. I'm just wondering if the Clifton Hills and Moomba-Spencer fires are one in the same that has now split and moved in two directions? (See attachment)

Clifton Springs looks like something totally new to anything that we had up there last deployment (the Region 4 & DENR QRV's).

The other one looks like it could possibly be a rekindle (or continuation) of one of the ones at the time.

Hard to tell just from the hot spots off the satellite.
