call me old fashioned.....but remember those things we used to have next to the canvas beaters and perculating hose in the shed..... what were they called again??... ahh thats right.... a BILLY. With the advent of modern technology you can even get them with a spout so u dont spill them everywhere. A little $20 gas stove thingy tucked away under the seat away from any danger and you have a brew whenever you want one.
I don't know why but CFS have this fascination with staying on scene for investigators both Major Crash and Fire Cause, go home, so long as someone is looking after it. I spoke to a Major Crash guy once and he said he just can't understand why volunteers insist on staying on scene for hours on end, no need for it.
As I understand it the National medal is awarded after 15 years diligent service, it concerns me that it then gets left to a couple of volunteers in a brigade to grant it. Surely there is a way this can be flagged on TAS some how at least.

15-11-10 11:08:10 CRML INFO: SPEED CAMERA MAIN ROAD CORO, IN BUS STOP BY BOTTOM OF ACKLANDS HILL ROAD - CFS Coromandel Valley Info
I thought we were meant to obey all road rules on the way to the station. If so then a page like this really isnt necessary......
Surely this would be a misue of resources (ie. the paging network). As mentioned above, if the road rules were being obeyed there would have been no need for a message like this.
I hope the person who sent out this message is counseled. By all means promote safe driving, but blatant attempts to avoid speed cameras are unwelcome.
That is interesting, I just sent a Samsung off last week for re-programming (after it came back from repair with an address missing). I will let you know if they re-program the Samsung or replace it with an Apollo.
...and yes just because you send a report in does not mean it meets any criteria for a firecall hence why your numbers may be lower.
What criteria do you need to fulfill to make it a firecall? Surely an appliance leaving the station to deal with an incident (regardless of what it is) would be considered a call?
Andrew, it just really is not the first point of notification of a fire that it used to be 15-20 years ago. Im also guessing if there annual budget is $195 your not even going to get a uniform, let alone be able to run the AC while your up there.
I didn't think PPE and utilities were taken out of brigade budgets. Are they?
From what was being said on ABC radio ADAM the whole BUND is coming down and will not be replaced......
That pager message should have only gone to Group officers and staff and not every CFS pager...
