The new 34 hey?I'll start from the front and work to the back...

Front of appliance... 9/10- Bull bar - 9/10 - is very chunkie, like the red & blue strobes, appliance sign
- Spray Bar - 10/10 - 3 jets  covering 3m infront of truck and 1m each side works well.
- Head lights 8/10 - hight adjustable, may need extra spot lights, see how we go.
- Cab Sprays - 9.5/10 - award winning design and I can see why, covers 99% of the   glass area even on a windy day, works great with foam on as well.
- Beacons - 7/10 - Great at night, could be better for day, slimline to keep away from branches.
- GRN /VHF antennas 10/10 - very low profile, will never get damaged
- Side steps(after alteration by Moores) 8/10 - very sturdy with lots of grip

Inside the Cab...8/10- Lay out - 7/10 - an officers delight - everything at your finger tips! short falls- lac of 12v outlets, intercom is to far for officer to reach,WERE IS THE CD PLAYER?!
- Siren - 9.5/10 - pick a tune any tune, go the hyper yelp!, air horn is a bit lame.
- Drivability - 10/10 (i'm not a driver)it's fast & responsive (Red trucks beware, don't mess with MCLV 34)
- Rear Seat 10/10 - Seats 4 across the back just fine (Mt Bold)
- Emerg. Air supply- 9/10 - yet to be used etc but will be a life saver.
- windows - Sill have to wind em!
- storage 8/10 - Love the saddle bags for tabards etc plus big pockets behind the seats.
- Seat covers 10/10 - all seats have canvas, removeable covers.

GOTA GO, TUNE IN NEXT TIME FOR LOCKERS, CREW DECK, EQUIPMENT AND PUMP

 :-D

Kersbrook have one and Kingscote have either just got one or about to have it delivered.

We don't have that truck but have to agree with the score for the siren, HyperYelp/Low is great still undecided about the airhorn :|

As for the LED lights steve you say they are aren't as good in the day (But what is) but if you look at them up close they won't look that great but at a 100m + distance are they good???

What alterations where done by Moores?

I would say that the steps for the cab, front and back were built by moores. The standard steps that come with dual cab trucks arent usually the best. They arent very wide and the first step is usually a bit high.

Sevenhills as well

Best difference is the roller door lockers instead of the usual crap they dish out,and a better siren...Code 3 instead of crappy Sirenco

What is the standard issue of BA to BA brigades with the new 34? 2 or 4 sets?
Title: Re: 2007 Hino 34's
Post by: Scania_1 on March 07, 2007, 03:42:53 PM
There are only brackets for 2 sets. The only newer appliances you will find with 4 sets are some 24P`s and Urban pumpers. Maybe 34P`s if the brigade is replacing an appliance that had 4 sets on it.

I believe BA sets are based on SFEC's not appliance type...

Correct you have to justify having 4/6/8 sets, not just because the truck can carry them. But this is getting off thread. I like the idea of the rear facing under-tray lockers.. Better utilization of available space.

Post by: Broadside on March 10, 2007, 02:04:39 PM
According to a regional officer i recently spoke to the new appliances will be delivered to brigades ready to replace the existing one. That means if the old one carried 4 BA sets the new one will too. This is as long as the brigades sfec specs match the number of BA sets they have.

Yahl 34 was apparently mixed up and will be returning to adelaide and a new one with BA brackets will be sent back!

Seems there was a mixup or an oversight.  Unfortunately the group saw the need to make an donkey out of themselves & the cfs in the local paper.
