SA Firefighter

Was just wondering what a recruit firefighters wage is I had a look on the ufu website but it dosnt make sense to me it says it's based on a 38 hr week but the 10/14 roster averages more then that and that would make a recruit firie in FRNSW is paid as much as a Snr firie in the mfs dosnt make sense to me at all. Also wat are the time frames when moving through the ranks I can't seem to find any info on it

Individual stations have always been called brigdes in the NSWFB or FRNSW

Just to take some of the "heat" out & to share some insight gained from the course I did (Drive Vehicles under Operational conditions - on roads as Response/P1) as part of the assessesment the driver had to correctly operate the sirens (wail/yelp)as it was the drivers responibility. The training was developed from the NSWFB, NSW ambulance service & police training. Whilst I agree Numbers the team leader could operate this change switches, it is the drivers job at the end of the day as per MT's last comments. I also agree with MT the switches are often mounted in stupid spots. Just for your interest - to ensure we got it right we were trained on one vehicle but had to do the two practical assessments in vehicles that we had not driven! That made for interesting times You soon learned where the switches could possibly be mounted.

Well it didnt come from the NSWFB as when they do their driver training they are told to drive and the IC worry about the siren with the foot pedal to change the siren, driver is their to drive and operate pump and not worrying bout siren changes.

Guys was just after some info maybe even pics of the epaulets and rank structure of the MFS.
Also are they different from retained to permanent and helmet colours aswell???

I know here in NSWFB we have red epaulets for retained and white for permos, yellow hats for firies, red hats for SO's, White hats for inspector through to assistant commissioner and Black hat for the commissioner.

Plus stripes, impella's, crowns, and all the other stuff on epaulets.

Correct Big Al...Stations are undergoing a final clean, and then the new green uniforms will be rolled out.

I notice ambulances have been staying at Paradise MFS station for a few days, while the Campbelltown Station was cleaned....

This may be a stupid question but how are ambulances allowed to be stationed at MFS stations, where im from this is a big no no and would never happen without a union having a look first.

Just after anyone who knows what the best employment service in Adelaide would be the best to get the computer certificate for the MFS recruitment??

Quick question when the page says change to quarters etc is that the same as a move up in nsw like when there is a prolonged incident so another station moves to a different station to cover that area???

Hi new to this forum just after some info on the when the next intake maybe?
Im a retained firie in the NSWFB and very keen for a move to permanent ranks, Ive been trying with the nswfb but it sounds the same as the samfs it just takes time im also a qualified electrician in my primary job.
Will having 5yrs experience help when it comes to recruitment in the SAMFS???
SAMFS would be my choice of fire service as Adelaide is like a second home for me and I have real estate in glenelg so moving isnt a problem.
