SA Firefighter General / Re: THE SITE
« on: July 29, 2006, 09:48:45 AM »
This site is good, great place to let of a bit of steam. I don't agree with everthing on this site ( not saying i am correct)But it is a great way to get information about what other brigades and services do.
I think people put things on the site because of the frustrations with the way things are done in the service.
Hey I still think the CFS is great

127
it's good we that each service helps each other.
Funny how people have been talking about MFS stations that might been built in CFS areas. Then MFS get a few jobs and we are called to help.
As Medvac said  isn't it amazing how undergunned and undercrewed the paid fire service is?

But has the new station at Crafers been built ?
We could stop traffic with the boom gates if the new MFS station has been made half way up?

I think it must be like internet dating

Firefrog that is your opinion about the 38mm. It might work for you
But I have used Hpline  a heap of times for a internal attack.
I know lots of MFS firefighter that use this everyday for fires and it works for them.
if I was doing a external attack I would use a Hpline or64mm, I can't see the use at all for a 38mm.
Yes I have tried 38mm, but Iam not a fan of it

Yes it is for fun, but there is a lot of difference from the team that came first and to the team that came last.
Good on every team that gave it a go. it can improve your skills

« on: July 20, 2006, 08:58:38 AM »
ath, I read it about the colours of the fire appliances in a firehouse mag about 12 years ago.
A study was done in the USA about the colours of fire appliances.
From memory red was the colour most people thought fire appliances were
White was the safest colour ( but problem in snow)

I think that 3 dgo would work well, remember most people work. It would cover the down times, as would hope they don't all respond to the same call and user a roster

All Equipment discussion / Re: Ordering of PBI Gold
« on: July 06, 2006, 08:48:55 AM »
Ohh medevac  you seem so young and keen ( i like that )
Having been an all sides before group, brigade management and the best place firefighter. You should have been told why you are not getting the PBI. Sounds like it is not geeting back from group/brigade management to you.
At group the decision would have been made by the GO and brigade reps, they might have had some good reasons( i don't know the facts) but it could be as simples as a budget issue ( hey don't all jump up and down over this, money makes too many decisions )if your group has X amount of PBI to clean each year and budgets are tight, where is the money coming from, what do you cut back on ???
Ask at your next brigade meeting why, it is your right to question or just go and ask your captain or if you see your GO just ask him why. The easiest think is to sit back and have a go at the system, sometimes you win if you question

SAMFS / Purchase of land Seaford and Aldinga
« on: June 30, 2006, 02:19:58 PM »
This is from the MFS Union website
http://www.ufusa.asn.au/wordback6.pdf
SEAFORD/ALDINGA
The Union was pleased to note that following extensive lobbying from both the SAMFS and the UFU the Government recently purchased land at both Seaford and Aldinga which is earmarked as future SAMFS Fire Stations. The Union has always held the view that as all people now pay the Emergency Services Levy, they should be entitled to the provision of the best available emergency service response.
