So sounds like CFS may have brought 2 new pumpers. So who will be the lucky brigade? Who can justify one??

SAAS / Re: SAAS Volly Story on Today Tonight - TONIGHT !
« on: December 02, 2010, 08:42:37 PM »
Like all services in the country SAAS is one that is really in a bad way with low volunteer numbers,There is no easy answer to how to fill the gaps but they could try paging the CFS who's members are trained in first aid or in some area advanced resus.
Simple answer... Employee a Paramedic at every Ambulance station, just like Vic, NSW and QLD do.

The story could have gone further if they really want it to by looking at the over worked staff stations in the country and the city. I know our staff station here is always busy and staff are always on 10hrs off line so the Volunteer stations which are some 47kms away have to cover the area from their location. So work that out how long it would take Lucindale or Padthaway to respond to a MVA or heart attack in our town?? Mind you in the past we would be paged to help but for some reason this has stopped....
Bill your station does NOT go off line, it’s called a "10 hour break" and it basically means the paramedic crew is responding from home NOT the station. This is very common & has minimal impact on service delivery.

SASES / Re: Murray bridge SES

Isn't it amasing what a little internal politics can do to a unit/brigade? And some people who have a big ego or think they can run a unit better? Just a small group of disgruntled individuals almost destroyed that unit. And my understanding of the situation at the time, it wasn't the SES that was the fly in the ointment re: dual response  other things:wink:
Back to Murraybridge a great unit & I was sadden to hear of their potential demise - I am glad it was just rumour & possible empire building (again).
Finally when are you guys going to be happy with what you have? Every time I come on here its another round of "lets get rid of the SES".Halfarsed rumours & accusations & other bollocks! For filtered sake! do you really think you would benefit at all? No of course not! The organisation would still exist to satisfy disaster requirements - just like it does in every other state & any money saved would go into general revenue not CFS coffers. And all up its only worth a few million anyway - not enough to buy every brigade new appliances & buildings to rival SAMFS! Maybe the government should start looking at where all of the money actually goes in CFS & a different funding model that makes towns and councils a bit more accountable. Anyway thats all I've got & again I'm glad to MB is still active

Lol... chook get ya hand off it and go sharpen your chainsaw. RIP MB SES

Sensor driven Traffic Lights with red light camera? and a fixed speed camera? lol...media mike will make heaps of money...

Intersection of Woodside-Nairne Road/Riverview Road, Inverbrakie would be another hot spot for a Ignored Stopsign/Speed camera detector.. (yeah lets invent something new)...

Am interested about where that list came from as well.

Vertical Resue within SES is its own hot topic at the moment anyway. Apparently there was a serious accident (all details seem to have been banned from public/volunteer knowledge), which in turn prompted a major review of operations.

A lot of the units have vertical gear, but accreditaion of members is an ongoing issue.

Because a Lawsuit is pending.... Yeh lets just say that SES f**ked a rescue up, then tried to cover it up, didn’t call for backup until it was way too late. Now a young girl will never walk again. Leave it to the professionals STAR group/ SOT rescue paramedic’s.

Incident Operations / Re: 3rd Alarm Factory Fire Mt Barker
« on: November 28, 2009, 09:42:36 AM »
Yeah looks like they didn't have much in the way of BA backup, but most of the CFS is in a bad way when it comes to BA, something that needs to be looked at rather urgently.

You would almost have to wonder, with all the stuffing around getting crews together, would it really take someone like Glen Osmond that long to get there.

I heard both barker trucks arrive within 5min... Glen Osmond would have been the third arriving appliance if they were called straight up.. bit scary… Talking to barker guys they had to "Dig in" for a while before they got some help. Guess that’s what happens when they have to prop up so many other brigades during the day. It’s a big area to cover…. . I don’t know how they manage to do it all the time. CFS need to look at something… take some pressure of the Brigade…

Mt Barker will go retained/pay day crew before Nuri… Look at the risks around barker plus the new developments atm.
-1.3m Barker Plaza development, -$1.2m extension to the Mt Barker shopping centre, -$15m Big W/Target complex, -Bunning’s warehouse. -New Bluestone residential development - 835 houses. Barker is one of the nation’s fastest growing inland towns.
Barker will do about 400 calls this financial year…

Dennis the Menace

Latest saga is they had a windscreen come from New Zealand damaged and there were two more there but they were also damaged(in the same place) so now one is coming from London.

Might be back in service by Xmas

Don't think so... Dennis has more problems then just the windscreen...
24p is just a temp for Mt Barker, its not going to get referb, just a name change... barker boys are happy.
