Country Fire Service / Re: CFS responding with MFS in MFS area

There is a few retained MFS station where they are not all BA operators nor all trained as hazmat operators or RCR trained

Are you sure, doesn't make much sense, due to the limited numbers of staff they are allowed to recruit I thought this would be part of the minimum skills to keep your spot.

I know the station support staff aren't, but they don't fight fires either.

Yeah I have worked with a station that as had members in there for over 3 years and they still have not done BA or RCR

how about we just respond with the appropriate rescue or BA crew dependant on the incident type..... surely we all know the CFS SOPs for minimum crewing, doesnt matter whos area it is

2 Minutes after that, another MFS appliance shows up, same situation, zero BA operators.

Am i missing something?  All MFS firefighters are BA trained.

As i said it doesnt matter where the incident is....you should be rolling to a structure with less than 2 BA ops.  simple!

In one of my positions in the CFS is Purchasing I normally have to travel 7 to 8 km to get a CFS vehicle it is the same distance traveled to  go do the purchasing so i don't worry about getting it. Since the petrol cost rising i will be thinking twice now before I do it as i was normally between $800 to a $1000 dollars out of pocket a year. Getting to expensive as it does not include all the other stuff I do.

Maybe thats the idea :-D they don't want us to read it! And I remember what happened to Monash 34(I was a witness), thought it would be fixed by now that was weeks ago!
cheers

Can not get parts for it in Australia so they say some arrive mid this month but they are trying to get it done sooner but so far no luck.

If the attached map works you will see you are quite right, unfortunately
if you type "Glossop" into the system Barmera gets responded. In all honesty I'm not particularly worried about this type of stuff anymore as the Commcen can only go on what they are told. Of more concern is the other stuff thats going on around the place like "volunteers charter" that we didn't know about until 2 weeks ago & other weird stuff like that. Anyway cheers mate & take it easy.

Sorry chook but that road is boundry of Glossop and Monash and seeing Monash 34 is off line until later this month they had to send Glossop only. Glossop is all the way up Jurry road to the middel of Trennaman from Old Sturt Highway

« on: April 13, 2008, 04:28:28 PM »
Well my Brigade would rather respond to an alarm malfunction any time of the day with no complants

Rather than...?

Sorry pager went off so I did not get to finish. I should have said my brigade has been responded to fixed alarms monitored by other brigades as they could not get crews rather than a car or nobody.

JC Smith drive starts on the Berri side of the golf course and finishes just at Mortimer rd (both start in a SAMFS area).
But I guess you are right, was just curious thats all. As the town is expanding, it would be nice to know what is going on. Interestingly the Adelaide fire operator, told me Glossop was responding when I rang in to accept the task that hasn't happened before.
cheers

Sorry to say Chook if you look at the Maps from SAMFS you will see that they are in CFS area but should be MFS. But if CFS get the call they go.

Closest resource means nearest fire service or rescue resource as the case may be.

Sounds good but what if there is no fire plugs or water points along that area  and there is a fire the truck only hold 800lt. Or you go down the River flats, National parks area then what? Would all that info help suggest who to send where?  My map show the Big Orange is defiantly in Monash CFS area by 2 to 3km so they will work it out soon.

I was told that closest resource will come in later like yeah when ever, but then was there any Fire plugs to hook up to as MFS need them I was told that this will help decide closest resource. Not sure what closest resource actually mean?
