SA Firefighter General / Re: Interesting Fire and Emergency Related Paging

Not a CFS SOP thing, purely to do with RCRD and the metro MFS boundary being used as the border for its policy.

All jobs outside of metro MFS have to be sent as an RCR, every now and then an operator inadvertently sends a minor cleanup for an MVA and so they are quickly upgraded to rectify it.

There is still much confusion as to what the responses across all of SA should be for road accidents, especially since CAD came online. The RCR Comittee does not exist any longer, but the reasons the RCRD was created are still valid. It will be interesting to see what evolves.

More than likely they wont do anything considering interCAD is coming..

In the meantime, RCR grievance forms.

Helicopter response zone?

I have heard rumours, but have not seen any paperwork, procedures, etc...

It would be nice to see the sky crane actually do some work since we're wasting spending so much money on it... So all good I guess. Seems like it may mean we are over resourcing the initial response to some jobs though if rumours are anything to go by... (FDI over 30 = 2 fixed wings, the sky crane and air obs was the rumour I heard)

Yep... This t-cards will put an immediate stop to reckless damage on appliances and idiots being rough with gear. It's also sure to stop the huge amount of theft that seems to occur on deployed/loaned appliances.

CAD upgrade today, should make life easier.
Once current jobs that already have comments in them start to disappear this is all you will see for alarm levels, just the current one.

Just a spare appliance call sign.

Was running in place of 201 due to an issue with a fleet change in CAD, all back to normal now.

Pump03, pump06, etc could be the same issue, but are also at times used as extra appliances, ie when MFS strike team was dispatched to port Lincoln.

Seeing as the DO acknowledged A/F and they know that, wouldn't it be as easy to radio that DO and ask if they are out the door. It would seem that it depends which team is on up there to whether they use their radios to ask the question or just press a button. Yes we should all come up to A/F and acknowledge the call. But we can all use the radio and ask the question hey. You can't run the job buy sitting behind a desk making decision with out asking what's going on first.

All well and good as long as someone answers that radio call...

Baggy, time for you to go back to school. If not to confirm the truck will respond what do you think the purpose of acknowledging is? And yes. That person is taking responsibility, somethin the CFS is very poor at recognizing.

I must be mis guided...I thought we were to acknowledge receipt of page with A Fire than book mobile when responding in appliance.. Is that incorrect?

I thought under SACAD it was just an acknowledgement that the page had been received and if an appliance didn't get mobile they would default anyway?  Maybe I'm misguided too.  (Although I think it's good practice for someone who's actually responding to acknowledge so they can relay further details if there are any).

Hey mate, ack within 6, mobile within another 10, so possibly 16 all up to get a truck on the road. IMO this is too long and a brigade should default before this point unless they are extremely remote. The default after that sixteen though still does not automatically happen as CFS wants ALERTS used to query status of resources first.

I really dont know why we are even talking about it!

Probably because there are such varied understandings of the system?

03-10-12 20:54:18   Page acknowledged to Adelaide Fire by LT2. LT2 unavailable to attend incident. - CFS Forreston Info

Annnd  :?

No point acknowledging a response if your not attending the incident/station. The person acknowledging page is taking responsibility that the appliance will go mobile.

Errrr how does acknowledging a page with A fire deem you responsible for getting the appliance out of station?  Seems to me he was obviously performing his roles roles set out to him!

Storm in a tea cup! No biggy really! "Play on"

Adelaide Fire takes the call and has the responsibility to respond resources, once they ack the responsibility lies on them to get out the door. There is a second timer that starts when a resource acks, but this is another ten minutes, and let's be honest. 6 to ack, plus 10 to mobile is way too long and a brigade/unit should have defaulted themselves well before that point.

If you comment on peoples maths then expect comment on your English.

There as in here and there refers to places
Their as in his, yours, theirs refers to ownership.

Let's not forget the missing apostrophe while we're at it then...

SASES / Re: SES familiarisation thread

To be able to stack their jobs SES wanted multiple resources per unit in SACAD.  26 letters in the alphabet, so 27 unit resources (one without a letter).

So for WAD20 Z, would that mean there are 27 stacked jobs, or would that just be the 27th job that day?

No. Doesn't necessarily mean either as they don't generally go out in alphabetic order.

One is picked by the system, i was told some time back of a 'time-breaker' rule, which chose whichever appropriate resource had been available in that zone and in an available status the longest.

You may notice in CFS land at any CFS station with two or more appliances of the same type & attributes they will get differant appliances for the same type of job from time to time; ie a rubbish/waste event in Coromandel Valley may get their 24 one day and their 24P the next, as they are both HTs with the same attributes in the same zone when K5. It will pick whichever resource has been K5 the longest.

I hope this helps.
