Other Government Agencies / Re: SES SCC relocation
« on: December 06, 2005, 08:07:25 AM »
the SES will get the "crap" jobs IF that is what THEY want. If they decide that the fire services should be first response then so be it. It will come back to SLAs and legislated responsibilities, not what a CRD operator thinks.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

it will boil down to which operator it is as to wether fire or SES get responded, im willing t obet it will also depend on which operator it is as to wether calls get passed to council, or even questioned as to wether it is a legitimate request for an emergency service...

basically (in theory) things will become what they should already be (gramma is scheiße)....

SES will get all tree jobs as first response and all storm/flooding/salvage jobs.. the reason we used to get them as CFS brigades was basically becasue MFS didnt have SES in there CAD system; so why should they have t5o phone 132500 for SES response when they could just page a fire resource?  things will be much better.. but SES will IMO get a fair load of crap or "unworthy" jobs...

i think youll find... if you search really really hard, that PBI has been approved for all non-rural incidents... so:
fixed alarms, vehicle fires/accidents, domestics, rubbish fire, etc..

just not wildfires/grassies but i believe cfs are trying to get it approved for that..

i have never seen any SOP or the like that states its onyl to be worn to structure fires...

maybve imtalking crap though...

i am yet to see written evidence that disprovesmy above comment...
in fact i cant remember where but im sure i read this somewhere... vollie mag or somewhere...

from vollunteer mag volume 112; page 57 "PBI Gold"

Andrew patten; Project Officer, prescribed equipment

"CFS has not endorsed this garment for use as a wildland garment, however it is CFS's and Lion Apparel's intention to explore the possibility of certifying the outer shell for use as a Wildland Garmen compliant to AS4824 (australian standard)"

so basicvally i take from this that it is appropriate PPE for all non-rural incidents...

further to that...

"For further information aout the Lion Apparel Structural PPC please contact Andrew Patten, Project Officer Prescribed Equipment on: (08) 8398 9900 or [email protected]"

so stop whinging.. and contact the man to find out the facts...

apologies in advance

i think the main question here is priority one or two...

i stand with prioprity 2; as PUMPRESCUE pointed out, once they get there, what can they do other than provide a sitrep???

geez.. cant imagine having MDTs in appliances.

would mean huge implications on comms procedures.. i can imagine it would mean all radio comms through state. would require huge tech upgrades to implement MDTs and make them manageable for brigade comms at stations..

believe SES operations are still in 60 waymouth st, however theyre admin is moving to level 10 44 waymouth??

on a brighter note; i have also heard on the grapevine that the OCOs are moving into a more modern/better layed out/more techo equipped op centre..

More over - you can bet that only a selection of brigades get them - if they can't finish the roll out of fire stations interfaces and other items, they will never manage a role out of MDT's.

Probally Hazmat first with brigades who respond with MFS (both city and country) then who is anyones guess?????????? Just a thought:-P

sorry first if this sounds offensive..

but what are you talking about? theres no chance in hell of any CFS brigades getting MDTs i think pple have turned this thread into an MFS comms thread or something...

How bout I keep wearing my blue shirts with the Star on them...  Or what ever im wearing when the pager goes.. Whether it be work clothes, or random casual attire, don't think the person watching their house burn down will care what is under my turnout gear !  (Heck I know I don't).

does that mean they'd be offended by the fact i wear a singlet and boxer shorts under my turnout gear???

almost fell off my chair laughing when i found out that blackwood CAFS (or rather possibly one of the drivers from blackwood) blew up its engine (i believe this will mean the third engine for that truck)... and it will be offline indefinitely!!! apparently they are looking at bringing the old blackwood 24 (the benz) back online...

ROFLMAO that trucks been cursed... gearbox problems, engine problems, pump problems, hose problems.... kinda reminds me of stirling pumper...

when will the CFS stop groups from making custom trucks??? always seems to end in tears...

we usually fire the truck up and roll it just outside the doors... had an incident once when an over excited member (who has since been told his services were no longer required, long history)started the truck and sat there revving it, until the crew was ready, he was already at station so this about 3 mins... filled the shed up with gas and noone could egt in there to put there gear on... id call it an irresperable (sp?) environment :D:D

netcall is basically pager testing at shift changeover... you will notice they are all around 0800.. you would also get some for 1200, 1800, and whenever arvo shift finishes... im not sure of exact shift changeover times...

We Had One But Then Had To Remove It Until We Can Undertake A Training Course. Unless The Brigade Members Have Undertaken A Training Cource, Then We Are Not Allowed To Carry It.

Sounds like the situation with PPV fans.  Many brigades carry them on their appliance, but nobody has undertaken accrediated training in how to use a PPV fan correctly.

however there is a course... and it lists in TAS

well for one thing it gone from a pair of moleskins and an akubra to nomex or PBI and a structural firefighting helmet depending on your preferance...

i havent got a real big idea sorry mate... but one method of attackingthis question could be for you to consult a copy of the book "tried by fire - the story of the country fire service" by julie-anne ellis ... i think just abotu every SACFS station was issued one of these... or try various brigade web pages...

will try to follow up ambo categorys for you.. i can tell you now that cat1 and cat 2 are lights and sirens, for things like cardiac/respiratory arrest, collapses, trauma, heammoraging etc.. for example,, an MVA is a cat2...

cat3 is possibly something like a person with pain, discomfort or soem other minor illness.. but in no-immediate life threat, hence no lights or sirens...

cat 4/5/6 are differant levels of transfers i believe, couldnt tell you exactly how they are classed, but it is based on treatment required or not...

this is my interpretation only, as ebst i can remember it, but yeah no gaurantees.... however cat1's and cat2's are the exciting ones...  :-D
