Fire Stations and SES Units / Re: Biggest Station?

Next question, who has the best looking largest CFS station as Salisbury's looks horrible as its an old crash repair place. Sort of fits right in with the whole northern pay out thing.

Each tip of the star has a meaning to fire fighters either paid, volunteer or both. The logo does not even look like anything to do with a fire service, my question to Corporate C.F.S. why change something when it's not broken!

GD seriously don't worry about where that appliance goes it was rather heavy with the PTO pump BA/rescue gear on it so it became just a rescue. Its non turbo so as quick as a diesel Gemini! I think it was built when CFS was trying that whole mini-pumper thing as you saw a few around and anyone that tells you a 1-2 or a 1-4 pumper is a good idea has rocks in their heads.

As a truck that size is only really a big Ute. 1-4's should only be kept as a small rural appliance cause of the ability to access small fire tracks if needed. That's just my opinion due to seeing red scania's disappear from you up the road as you follow them to a job, little bit embarrassing

Tea Tree Gully are due to receive a new 34P soon but due to the height of the appliance the roof has to be raised on the engine bay. Currently there is a Command car, 14 CAFS (new), 14 pump/rescue, 24 rural and 34 RFW PTO pump. Once new 34P arrives fleet will be 34p, 24, 14 rural CAFS and Command car.

Be interesting to hear from brigades that get a 34P and what teething issues that they are experiencing. As there has been hold ups from the manufacturer with a couple of cheap dodgy fittings failing!

All Equipment discussion / Re: Ordering of PBI Gold
« on: May 03, 2007, 09:15:30 AM »
I feel sorry for you guys that have to push issues like PBI gold with your dinosaur Captains and LT's that just worry about scrub fires. If you got B.A. operators no questions should be asked, they need it. The majority of jobs my brigade attends are structure fires and M.V.A.'s. The old level three pants just dont cut it at some hot jobs.

As for the wearing of PBI gold we wear it to any job's that the appliance we have goes for urban jobs. I know its probably not the best thing for R.C.R but we have had it before when we are cleaning up at a prang and get responded to a structure fire. MFS wear it for both types of jobs no problems. In Summer if we go to one of these job's i just put my level 1 gear in a bag in a locker just in case. We are not allowed to wear it to rural jobs i saw one guy from a neighbouring brigade and thought what a tool!

He he that would of been funny to see. If the Pt. Augusta boy's are smart i would be getting some unoffical currency out of the coppers to get them out of the mud in the way of a carton or two of something!

I  agree its not the job of a Fire fighter MFS or CFS to control traffic. To my understanding its the role of the police and in saying that I've been to a number of incidents over the years that you have to use two guys from your fire appliance to manage traffic from time to time as Sapol have not got the numbers in area straight away, its just the way it goes. In regards to cleaning the road way if its to much for two guys with brooms and shovels call the local council duty officer and let their road sweeper take care of it.
