Totally disagree with your statement COMP00.

Don’t know what game you guys play at your station but once our guys complete their BFF1 they are not fed to the lions! They are always mentored by Senior Fire Fighters or senior members at training and incidents so they are learning the right stuff and safely and only one probie is allowed on each appliance to an incident.

Once the Captain is content with their development then they loose the probationary statue and become Fire Fighters.

See COMP00 if you did join one of those urban fringe brigades you would learn phrases like skills development & skills maintenance.

By the way under the FGP's it's "Turn on" and "Knock off"

Hey fair enough...it was a generic statement.  You have to remember the CFS is mostly made up of rural brigades and not well trained, high callout city fringe brigades and my statement rings true in alot of those brigades.

just looking at that page, it actually gives two different locations. the first line says "wireless road E(AST), mt gambier district" and then later it says "wireless rd WEST", does anyone actually know where the call was? would have been seeing the compton boys out chasing it around on wireless road west,

Call was actually on wireless rd west in MFS area.  For some reason Wireless Rd West must not exist in the database.

Good ol gazza called that one in.

Be realistic.....fighting fire is not rocket science! we take average joes off the street give them a weekend course then throw them on the front line....

be they mfs or cfs they are more than capable to fight both rural or urban fires with the correct training.

we say mfs specialise in urban and cfs in rural but realistically you throw either service into a situation and they will deal with it.

those sprinkler heads are very high up at bunnings......boy you had to pick the long weekend...may pop in and take some photos.......

The sprinkler head was actually located in a timber storage racking....practical spot for fire suppression but not practical when it comes to restocking the racking.

I is that CFS seem to target the entire state the same way which is unfortunate. suburbs like Belair, Eden hills, the back of Burnside, Stirling, Crafers, are all big towns and look very similar to suburbia and hence people think they are safe as "fire doesn't burn in suburbs :?"

media needs to tell these areas firmly and matter of fact that they will burn like Canberra.

Someone knocked a sprinkler head off and we spent 2 hours removing the water from the store.

Good work done by both CFS & MFS crews.  Everyone pitched in and created excellent team work.

Interesting a member of the public says they reported it at 2:30 but this seems to be the 1st page for it? Noting the time.
1909047 14:50:56 17-01-08 MFS: INC # 40 - 17/01/08 14:50,RESPOND GRASS FIRE,JAMES RD,BELAIR, MAP 143 B 9 ,,,BELR42 SAIR55 BELR00 BKWD19*CFSRES: CFS Belair Response

According to the adelaide now website some people thought it was a burnoff and possibly could of been burning since 2pm before being reported at 2.30.  Then complained it took cfs 20 mins to arrive....but if the first page was at 2.50pm then someone has some explaining to do if it was reported at 2.30pm.

Although i seen somewhere DEH were first on scene then called adelaide fire?

Last i heard was construction was meant to begin on 1st Jan 2008?  so maybe that is why the buildings are disappearing.
