11-01-13 10:40:00   CFSRES RESPOND GRASS FIRE INMAN VALLEY YANK34 :FROM G.C.C 10:41:49 AM - CFS Yankalilla Info

It's funny how we are all quick to bash SACAD and associated things yet things like this still go on!

I also noticed with the FINNIS job the entire Mundoo Group was responded before the alarm level was raised...on all the info/training I have had with SACAD it is drummed in to us the best way to get more appliances is upgrade of alarm...or alternatively if a special resource is required request through A/F.

That's my bitch for today....stay cool  :-D

Country Fire Service / Fire Season 12/13
« on: October 18, 2012, 03:27:49 PM »
I did a bit of research and i think there has been 9 fire bans already in SA, Surely this must be nearly a record!

I also noticed today the FDI reached 110 at oodnadatta - After being on holidays up through the far north and to Alice Springs the outback is once again a ticking time bomb waiting for a spark.

Anyone else with observations from around the state? seems the winter/spring season has shut of very early this year and maybe the BOM are right we are heading in to a drier period.

Bushfires seem to be running rampant in WA at the moment. If ya thought we were busy in SA especially in the North id say WA is twice as busy.

SASES / SES SCC
« on: January 28, 2012, 09:00:39 PM »
Why don't get the SCC organized a little earlier when forecast of bad weather? Seems the majority of jobs are paged out before the SCC even opens! Of course this is only the case in these short weather events!

Country Fire Service / Fire Danger Ratings 24-12-11
« on: December 24, 2011, 01:23:06 PM »
ive been flicking around looking at some current FDI's around the northern and western part of SA. I have noticed the FDI's are considerably higher than forecast and in some areas exceed 50. which in turn if ws predicted would incur a TFB. Its strange how they can be sooo far out with forecast FDI.

1430 hrs @ Roseworthy FDI = 53.1

1430 hrs @ Snowtown FDI = 56.8

1430 hrs @ Cummins FDI = 71

1430 hrs @ Wudinna FDI = 81 (not much higher than forecast)

Country Fire Service / Training Course Nominations
« on: June 29, 2011, 01:22:56 PM »
I have noticed recently regular pager messages searching for people to fill Training courses. This can be as low as 1 or 2 attendees or as high as 8. Are we as CFS volunteers making a rod for our own back by not filling these training courses to maximum. The point i am trying to make is we are extremely underfunded in training yet when it comes to the crunch where are we?? Is this just particular courses that are not as popular? Or is the % of volunteer's that actually are committed to CFS training dropping of? (ie they have completed all the training courses)

Anyone with any thoughts??
