Title: protective clothing changes
Post by: jameswillcourt on November 23, 2005, 05:58:19 PM
hi my name is james willcourt and i am doing a school project on the cfs and how it has changed.
My focus question is how has the protective clothing changed?

I have found it very difficult finding information on the subject on the internet and through reading the book Tried by fire i have gathered small amounts of info but not as much as is required.

Any information on the subject would be much appreciated 8-)

well for one thing it gone from a pair of moleskins and an akubra to nomex or PBI and a structural firefighting helmet depending on your preferance...

i havent got a real big idea sorry mate... but one method of attackingthis question could be for you to consult a copy of the book "tried by fire - the story of the country fire service" by julie-anne ellis ... i think just abotu every SACFS station was issued one of these... or try various brigade web pages...

Try calling some of the founding members, or life members of your brigade.. I tell ya what, if I called some of mine I would be talking for hours !!!

They can be a wealth of information..
