I think the CFS were taken offline, instead of SES.

A Regional Commander destroying his own service! ..

-Operational Rank holders at Region+ level, fine. - Staff Officers whom hold no operational rank, leave them be.

I think the title should be changed to B shift strikes again.

This is a classic case of having NO IDEA, its been 2 years now, no excuses, this is the same shift that thought it was a good idea to send all of us a weather warning at some ungodly hour, they need a good talking to, the response makes no sense what so ever, and its not up to them to decide who is busy or not, and where is the 9 in that page, seriously, don't have anything go wrong when B shift is on.....

By the way RescueHazmat, they royally screwed up, no ifs or butts. There is no excuse for this second rate service.

Again, as long as facts are being used in the discussion, thats fine. As long as its not hearsay etc. :)

To re-enforce that; There is no problem discussing what is potentially a big problem.. But, I just hope that those in the discussion will use facts, not run with hearsay and pager messages.

Cheers. :)

I'm not the one making accusations and calling for an enquiry.

My point is, don't take a pager message and run with it as it if were gospel. Pager messages certainly dont portray the actual happenings of what goes on - out side of the brick walls many of the 'scanner/pager jockeys' of the world occupy.

It happens time and time again (~grabbing a pager message off the site). I just hope Bronto might have some facts, (other than pager messages) before they continue to publically 'oust' an Emergency Service Comcen, and basically call the operators and the service they are providing, incompetent.

Do you actually know the details of what went on in Comms?

Do you know if they got different information at various stages of the dispatch?

Do you know if they were told the info they responded, then it got changed or updated after the initial turnout?

Do you have ANY facts, that aren't from the paging website?

Oh good heavens! Who'd have thought that you would get deliberately lit rubbish/grass/structure fires on a FRIDAY night!

Haven't been in the job long Mr. 206 have we?

If at all?

Heh.. Yeah, isn't it unfortunate, that the only reason we are kept safe, is so people can 'cover' their own behinds, to avoid the risk of prosecution if something were to happen.

OHS forms are always good for 'Identified Hazards'.. - If its a hazard to your safety, document it correctly. You will be surprised how powerful the OHS push can be these days.. (Its all about 'butt covering'..)

Im sure they would be well aware at a local level. Very difficult to hide those details in communities of those sizes, its just witheld publically.

Can I be the first to say, that this person has been released, and not yet charged. I would also like to point direction at the matter of discussing pending legal matters, so just be very careful what you post. This will be very closely monitored. - Don't try push the boundaries here.

oh yeah.....forgot to reply to 2468.....dude u seem to have either a particular axe to grind with the CFS, or u are trying to drum up business for your particular trade.

As for the latest 10 in 10 out Booster systems......not much in the MFS can deal with them either don't forget so maybe you could be a bit more balanced on who you start bagging. Bill's right, its not our job to be checking on the work of other people engaged in fitting and testing, only to have a plan if it turns to shite. If the plan is put five 2 in 2 out appliances on the Mega Booster....that works for me.

Is Halon 1311 still in use?....my understanding is this along with 1211 and 1201 was bannished from civil use years ago (the exception being aircraft for which there was no suitable alternative identified at the time). My info on this mught be old though.

I think FM-200 or CO is all that is used now.

Could be wrong..

MFS: *CFSRES INC048 10/04/09 17:00,RESPOND Assist SAAS,CEDUNA CFS,CEDUNA MAP 0 0 0 TG009,TO DRIVE AN AMBULANCE TO FOWLERS BAY,CEDU19

What next, driving police cars!
Probably had something to do with a rather nasty accident, involving a report of 5 casualties. (Well, all initial reports from the scene were up to 5 cas.)

Zip, think you will find they would have had one Ambulance Officer/Paramedic but needed someone to be able to drive them back while they worked on the Pt in the rear. ~ Or possibly so both could be in the back, this has happend on a number of occasions before, but I would be leaning towards the first idea.

Who, in their time in the CFS, hasn't had a second hand helmet?

All those years ago I think I started out with a TopGuard helmet, worn by a 10 year veteran prior..

Things are probably slightly better now, but I know plenty of firefighters who have worn something for one job, or one training (being brand new), decided to quit, and had that gear then sitting around.. No use binning it, its still perfectly fine.

Yep. One word comes to mind with that kind of abuse of the pager system.

Tool.

-All the "what if's" (In regards to people trying to tear off down the station) just make you shake your head.

Good call Numbers..

Not so smart.. Particularly if SAPOL were in attendance, and already managing the traffic hazard due to the trucks location..

Boots....After a year, pursue having boots that protect your ankle and lower 5th of your Shin.

I started out with really lowcut boots,  i forked out $66 on Ebay and bought myself some Taipans due to cfs bought replacement being a highly likely NO...so i avoided 5-8 years of waiting.  These boots have proven to be brilliant.

Trying to obtain a Structure Helmet Torch now.

Try not to give people the wrong idea though, I know I never had a problem with getting the proper boots, nor did anyone in my brigade/brigades in my group.

But to answer your question quite simply wicky, yes, all gear is provided free of charge.
