Google map that intersection and you'll see why, a lot closer to Happy Valley.

Fuel escorting on Sealink Ferry's is something the Southern Fleurieu group has been participating in for a long time. Typically 2 or 4 BA operators are tasked to provide active supervision of large fuel carriage to KI. When I was in the group it did involve a payment for the service provided.

SAAS / Re: Other emergency ambulance service?

I think you'll find this is the service which operates out of the Desal plant site. They have a 24/7 paramedic presence there.

In a previous brigade that I was in we welded a TB15 nozzle to the brush guard of a Hino 24 with flexi hosing from the outlet on the crew deck. This application worked really well for running grass / stubble fires. The set up of 3 remote controlled monitors looks alright and I would like to see SACFS do a proper trial of this vehicle to gauge its appropriateness, say 5 or 10 appliances over a couple of seasons with strict assessment criteria are needed to truely verify how this would work... I'd be happy to have a trial (even in the hills) and would also be interested in seeing this appliance on the Iveco Eurocargo Cab Chassis... as always my thoughts only!

I would have guessed that the Western areas of the state would have got it prior to Ngarkat, I also think we'll know about that after about 0500 tomorrow morning!

I'm also wondering whether KI will kick of again! Alway fun

Country Fire Service / Re: New 14 appliances
« on: November 17, 2009, 08:15:37 AM »
I'm finding the old TTG14 / revamped Belair 14 really good in the Hills. A true 1000lts, decent pump (PTO 350 gpm), decent stowage and 60m hp. Seems to work well in the local environment... Could be a bit faster though. Would be interested to see a similar build on a new Turbo'd Canter or Izusu NPR

I guess the other concept would be to put a rosenbauer NH30 onto the back of a 34p to see how that going with 4 in 4 out...

Belair 14 with a bigger pump...?

I know the stowage could potentially be a problem but I think they could be a functioning appliance for SACFS, I certainly wouldn't discount the idea until you see the product.

SAAS / Re: Medistar retrieval service
« on: March 03, 2009, 07:50:42 PM »
Hey Matt,

MedStar is the newly titled/named SA Retrieval Service. One service with the umbrella for all neo-natal, paediatric and adult retrieval (including primary trauma) for SA. I believe they will be wearing Red uniforms.

Meadow and Strathalbyn would be quicker than Lobie, Blackwood and Burnside would they?

17
Ah Zippy 'the big picture' will give everyone the right response!!

I think it is also the 'All seeing eye'

Someone always knows better apparently!

18
Surely SACAD is going to fix every response issue between all emergency services! :-P

19
Burnside Pumper HM400 PTO
Belair 34P HE500

Belair would have been at the station at time of call having just chased some dust between Belair and Eden Hills.

Eden Pumper would have probably been just as close as Burnside and Belair would head straight down Old Belair Road, onto Blythwood and then into Belair road with a run of about 3.5 kms. Would have probably beaten a red truck there...

Cheers

Country Fire Service / Re: Medical / First Aid Services at Bushfires
« on: December 22, 2008, 09:40:42 AM »
My view for the whole First Aid and Ambulance provision for bushfire activities are as follows:

St John: Great service. There to provide first aid support to Fire Fighters and do this at a great level. SAAS support this by providing the initial first aid response until SJ's can be mobilise (about 1 to 2 hours depending on where and when).

SAAS needs to be involved, and have a management presence with lvl 2 and 3 IMT for intelligence gathering. Depending on the size, location and other factor the presence at an IMT site may continue. SAAS resources may be required to remain at Inc Control and Forward Command depending on risk factors to the community and fire fighters. SJ's won't response into a fire ground to treat and transport injured persons (inc fire fighters) where if it is safe and supported SAAS will.

Lots of role definition has and is occuring between SAAS and St John around this issue.

Cheers

I remember seeing a Moomba Gas appliance about 10 years ago which came out with a 3000 or 4000 litre tank, and a stand alone 1000 gpm pump which could drive a large roof top monitor. It had a 6 cyl turbo diesel engine for the pump. Very loud from memory...

Its not the extended care paramedic call sign is it.  :?  :?  :?

Yup, on the right track there!

not unless ECP's are going to VA's - .......I hardly think a catheter change is warranted at a fender bender.....

ECP's like all SAAS operational vehicles are equiped and capable of responding to Emergency workload and have done quite a few Cat 2 jobs so far!

Cheers
