Last time they gave a weeks notice for PAT 1. So probably another couple of weeks.

They wont know exactly how many courses they're going to run as they operate on an as per needs basis. The more that leave they more courses will be run.
I think they'll interview the 50 now, some will fill the first squad, some will just miss out and probably go to the next squad and some may completely bomb out.
Christmas is four weeks away then is the January slow times so I wouldn't be expecting anything until at least Feb/Mar next year.
Of course this is only my theory.

For those that have been through the interview process before what is to be expected? I know it wont be like any other interview as usually the candidate can be asking as many questions as the interviewer. Being that in this case no one being interviewed will have direct experience I assume they wont be asking any direct questions relating to experience you have in the field.
Do they only put scenarios forward? What are some examples of the questions?

She was running out of steam towards the end and was probably a good metre behind me for the last few shuttles. I not sure if she made it to the red line before the beep. Kinda sad as she still ran the distance.
There were four groups of six when I did it but one didn't show. The first group all made it and I was in the second so I'm not sure how the rest went.

I passed mine and they were discussing if one in my group passed or failed but I left before they came to a conclusion. The firies on the court said she was close to failing but had made it but while in the room the HR bloke said he thought she failed but would discuss it with the others. I think they'll let her through.
Another friend passed today also.
Interviews are supposedly starting Monday so I wonder if those that have one have heard already or they aren't planning on giving much notice. Or they interviews will be delayed.

« on: November 11, 2016, 07:24:45 PM »Yeah it seems 80224,s mate got an email confirming he was unsuccessful and there was another alternate email that went out telling someone they were in the "suitability pool". Appears the majority of us are being kept in the dark though. Very frustrating
"The MFS have now invited applicants forward to contest the first Physical Aptitude Test (PAT1 Shuttle Run) over the course of next week."
It does seem weird that it states the 'first' physical attitude test.
I would say Pat 2 is the second.

After I looked at the previous drill squad photos on the wall it looked as if you needed to be slightly overweight and balding. Or maybe that is just the life experience they're looking for.
Didnt they have their peak caps on in photo like the 40 previous drill squads???
Probably, but the story I have sounds better.

The fact that there isnt an age limit is a joke. Yeah lets recruit 50 yr olds to do a physically demanding job and get 10yrs service out of them.....
I may have to rely on that fact.

« on: September 14, 2011, 03:08:52 PM »I can see how it may benifit some CFS crews but for reginal MFS it would niot be required, you know when four people rock up at the station you can go because everyone has rcr, ba, hazmat, CFS should do the same, not qualified, dont ride.
Amen to that, I can't get any training I want because I am a part of a very dedicated well trained brigade, great for the community but not so much for Johnny come lately's like me, and by that I mean not having 10 years under by belt. But that's all a topic for another thread.

The mapping is more useful to those in built up areas that may not know every one of the streets in their area. Or have new estates etc, just got to keep pace with updates. I heard it was in the region of $600 to set up ?

Yeah I don't see it being a huge asset to us as we only have six roads in our area, and somebody in the truck generally lives down one of them. Would be nice to have a bit of bling around the sheds though.
Now where are those new rake hoes someone was talking about earlier.

1. Do the MFS open applications to the public every year or do they draw from a pool of people that just missed out the previous year until they need a bigger pool.
2. I failed the psych, which to be honest surprised and disappointed me as I thought I would make it to at least the interview,if I'm to sit it again and answer differently can they tell? do they keep a record of who has applied in the past and their results?
And to anyone else out there, what do you know about the airservices firies, I love what I do with the CFS hence the attempt to join the MFS but I would be just as happy with airservices as it's better than nothing.

Can anyone tell me how they select those who go forward to the interview? Do they decide how many they want to interview then take that many, say they want 150 so the top 150 go through. I was under the impression it is all pass/fail but they could potentially end up with hundreds going through. I myself also missed out and I would be happier to know there were people simply better than me applying rather than myself not reaching a given mark.
