As someone who is on the other end , comms, Alerts can be VERY handy, or a total embarrassment to the fire service. Most of the time its the latter. It ranges from very competant call takers to dead silence, so we make a response based on maps.
The current arrangement of ringing those who don't have data in the system came about due to pressure from various groups who didn't want us direct paging, fair enough, but if you want this done, train your Alerts calltakers, for goodness sake, listen before starting to talk, don't answer in noisy areas, so many times I have had the member of the public question what on earth is going on.... and don't be a smart filtered, its doesn't help us, we try, so don't give us a hard time, you are looking after a tiny little patch, we have the whole state. I know we aren't all perfect, and we are using the system to its ability.
Just out of interest, we have had the reps from Intergraph sitting in with us on calls, so things are moving forward. The system they are telling us sounds fantastic, so as long as your data input is correct it should work well,
BRING IT ON !
PS: this is my own opinion, not the opinion of the people I work for.
So how long has this been bandied around TOO LONG!
To all you fat whinny people LOOSE WEIGHT,& GET FITTER.The BMI is set @ 30 and will not be changed.
MOVE ON and LOOSE WEIGHT get fitter BECOME A BETTER FIRE-FIGHTER & try again. All this crap that we will run out of CABA operators is just Your excuse .
end of transmission.
I think some of those options will lead on to others themselves. I'm sure if we had better equipment and appliances, volunteer retention would be higher.
I'm interested to know what kind of technologies you're thinking of though... You mean ICT tech in our dispatch, or new technologies on the equipment we use?
Keep your appliance well stocked with glucose lollies....very good at keeping the energy level up at a long job.
Not to mention the benefits if you happen to come across a diabetic in need of some quick sugar.
Always remember to brush your teeth after the glucose lollies, tooth decay, can't be too careful.......though in saying that Cam most people down your way only have a few teeth in their head, anyway!
Their group wouldnt support them anyhow would they?Cam,If you guys want to do the full course you get the group to support your application, send it to the regional office and its up to them.....
filtered that! Our brigade wants nothing to do with Hazmat except on a support level.
Cam,If you guys want to do the full course you get the group to support your application, send it to the regional office and its up to them.....
Whats that saying , Pay peanuts and you'll get monkeys.
Bill Your not even on my list at Region five.
Yep Know all about comptons hazmat response, How long was that truck off the road for.
Guys
Not a 100% sure why we are actually discussing this, From what i have seen and used all the new 34s come with Stotz fittings plus adaptor to take the hose we already carry.
Now most carry 25mm for forestry, all carry 38mm and 64mm.
My thoughts 64mm for filling or suppling water to appliances. 38mm for structure fires or 25 high pressure if you have it.
25mm with waygax for forestry and deploy the NSW rural fire servie role, not these stupid forestry winders we have on our trucks.
I will teach you when i see Cam, filtered of a lot easier and it can be bowled.
Cos DEH self-respond along to CFS jobs, just by watching the paging feed......bit lame at this time of the year, but alright in the height of summer i guess. It would be nice if Adelaide fire had the ability to page the DEH Bases. also identifying themselves as "DEH Morialta 14" would help...
Im 6'5, weigh 95kg (Add 20kg of BA set and turnouts to that for a rescue) and have a BMI of 22.. Your going to seriously struggle to pull me out too unless you have a similar stature.. - But im fit and healthy.. - Does that mean I can't be a firefighter incase my partner can't pull me out?
