Anyone else get a nice letter from STC about BA reaccreditation? Seems that in response to no money for training, we are now moving away from a 5 yearly reminder of how to wear a set correctly and the correct way to search, do start up drills, and all those other non important things we use to do on BA course.

Instead....a quick checklist run at your Brigade and a Brigade drill and alls good with the world - got to love the world of economical fire-fighting. :|

We are a victim of our own stupidity sometimes. Why do our paid media staff and leadership waste an angle (the surge in numbers) that might have some sway given the upcoming weather.....talking about 000 enhanced pager systems....ffs..... Oh yeah....and all our brave and erstwhile volunteer really wants to be is an MFS firefighter. Oh and yeah....the training is full on and intense....2 and a half days...wow....different to every BFF1 I've ever attended, mostly the only struggle there is against falling asleep. Of course our recruit commits 30 hrs a week to CFS, which is admirable of course, but I wonder how many of the public who were thinking anout maybe joining went, well I cant do that so I wont bother. Totally the wrong picture to portray. I highly doubt most of this crap came from the person concerned, more likely the scripted media release. Do they have any clue whatsoever?????

Maybe we could point out said new recruit, working in a Brigade with some of the higher callout numbers going around (and lets not get into a pissing contest about callout numbers) is STILL working from a tinshed....

Hi All

interesting snippet of joy from the head shed in the last week or so...

Get ready for budget cuts to CFS of around 8% or so....more so for the MFS and SES. Its a pretty good source, and a list of where cuts will be made is being drawn up (nobody is really waiting for the Tac Vent course are they??)..... but of course if any of the hierachy reading would like to refute it and put their name to it....then feel free.

Maybe they are changing the Stay or Go policy because they are worried the Troops will take it up  :evil:
