SES SCC is either on standby or will be activated tomorrow.

12:49:24 05-12-07 R2OPS: STANDBY CREW AT R2HQ FOR 6/12/07 ARE <name> AND <name>. ALL OTHERS PLEASE BE AWARE OF POSSIBLE STRONG WINDS AND HOT TO VERY HOT TEMP FOR TOMORROW.

Media Release : Fire Ban Advice for 6 December


Media Release

Media and the public are advised that TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Thursday 6 December 2007 in all 15 Fire Ban Districts Statewide.

Those districts are:

Adelaide Metropolitan

West Coast

Eastern Eyre Peninsula

Lower Eyre Peninsula

Flinders

Mid North

North East Pastoral

North West Pastoral

Yorke Peninsula

Mount Lofty Ranges

Kangaroo Island

Murraylands

Riverland

Upper South East

Lower South East

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, extremely hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight on the day of declaration to midnight on the following day.

Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions.

Residents are asked to implement their Bushfire Action Plans.

Landowners are asked to adhere to their local harvest codes of practice. These codes are available from your local council.

Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.

For further information refer to the CFS website cfs.sa.gov.au or contact the CFS Bushfire Hotline on 1300 362 361.

well sounds like KI is burning..... two seperate fires, bombers and aircrew responding with local crews...

Fire in Naracoorte was in one of the area's that the brigade has on its high risk area,good work by naracoorte 34 and pumper saved a couple of house's till back up arrived..I was on pumper and once other appliances where on scene we where sent back into town. This fire could have made a good run into the township or into a area that could have seen us there alot longer....around about 30ac,was lost....

Possibly SES flat bed trucks as a logistics deployment from Adelaide to Warooka.
Great to see all of the equipment being used to help each other & the community.

With the bombers from Woodside and the South East on Kangaroo Island one cant help to wonder why the CFS hasnt asked for the Elvis Skycrane based in Canberra to be deployed to assist with bombing operations :|

Media Release : Air Crane for Kangaroo Island Fires
Media Release
An Ericsson Air Crane will be arriving at Kingscote Airport on Kangaroo Island between 11am and 12pm today.
 The Air Crane will assist with direct attack of the fires supporting ground crews now in excess of 300 firefighters.
 With a tank capacity of 9,000 litres, the Air Crane will work with the other fixed wing bombers and helicopters already on the Island.
 This aircraft has been released by the Victorian Government through the co-operative arrangements of the National Aerial Firefighting Centre to assist South Australia to manage the multiple fires on Kangaroo Island.
 These aircraft are jointly funded between the Australian Government and State Governments.

Have just received a request regarding current roadworks etc on several of the roads I look after with regards to a convoy of fire trucks coming from interstate today and heading to KI to ensure they are given priority on the roads or through any areas of roadworks/delays etc......

Elvis was a great sight to see droppin its load on a outbreak at the shackle sector of the Chase fire, every firefighter nearly pretty much just gazed at it as it dropped hehe forgetting the flames
