I was one of the first attending at mt bold last night.

i fail to see how this is possible? as there were heaps of appliances on scene  before lofty group were even responded....  :?

Heard Mt.Lofty S/T being responded to Bradbury as our second appliance was getting away from  the station.  So they were responded only 10 mins or so after the initial smoke sighting message.  Beaten there by most of Mawson, Sturt & Heysen Groups, but well ahead of Murraylands, Gawler, & beyond...
So I guess that makes them one of the first on scene.   :-)

thank you stopcallking!

yeah we were only dispatched at 1845. I was actually at a mates house at glenalta having a BBQ when i heard all the sirens for sturt group going off. I was laughing thinking "wonder where they're going?" low and behold, 10 mins later my pager goes off.

i dont really give a toss. just saying "i was one of the first attending" implies to me that you were on one of the first 2 or 3 trucks, when there must have been at least 15trucks there already... not too worry though.

i didnt go anyway so who am i too know what happened at all?

i can think of a couple of places tjhat have kicked up scheiße until they got what they wanted... or just flat out refused to accept appliances...

"No crew at Woomera"

does this not imply that there is noone able to respond from woomera to the VA? be that WES of CFS?

WES may be fulltime, but if they have another job then they rely on CFS backup, as they only run 2 fire appliance, and i believe only one of them is RCR capable, although Woomera CFS are the RCR response for woomera district. Perhaps there was another job going down..?

CFS SOCC and region are well aware of the resources at there disposal, and im sure they would have been responded if at all possible.

not pointing the finger or directlyhaving a go at anyone... it sounds as though a lot of crews were putting themselves in unnecessary situations and high levels of danger yesterday...

Isn't that the domain of fire fighters :-D

true firefrog......

« on: January 11, 2007, 09:07:42 PM »
i dont think thats such a great idea rob.

its very easy for people to get the wrong idea from hearing  half the information on a radio...

you always get the crank yanker officers, who have no idea about corect terminology and procedure who give completely innacurate sitreps and cause more issues than good...

i recently heard a sitrep describing a fire as moving north on the grn radio.... the fire was actually on its way south........

blah blah blah etc etc

^^ no....

"Thunderstruck" - i wouldnt reccomend the movie, but there is a small fire in an RSL (filmed at Blackwood RSL), i only realised after it that they were a CFS crew and Eden Pumper was out the front... what a beast of a truck.

the movie is about these ACDC fans taking there mates ashes to spread in fremantle cemetery where bon scotts ashes were scattered....

only problem is there is no nonflip phone on the market yet. How long do you think a flip phone would last out on a job with us?

I actually bought a flip phone because I kept ringing people by accident while out on the job....  It's lasted 9 months now, and still going! :)

This is why all mobile phones come with a keypad lock function.
Nokia: usually press 'menu' then '*' in quick succession.
Other brands... RTM.

doesnt always work, i have a mate that swears to me he always locks his nokia mobile, and yet i get a phone call from his pocket every week or so
