Take a look at Adelaide Airport,  they should put that somewhere similar to Tullamarine airport as is to Melbourne CBD.

What's that got to do with anything? and Adelaide airport is nice and close to the CBD way better than Tully.

ok so why not? why do we get sent to tree downs ? and CFS offer a course? ( which is a very beneficial course)

Does this mean that if we all go and buy some other piece of equipment that isn;t standard CFS will fall into line?

Isn't it necessary for SAAS to have some input into these events simply because no matter whoever is responsible for first aid SASS will be responsible for patient transport etc?

I believe Bridgewater are very happy with theirs.

i mean more as currently a 4th alarm is a Strike team often from another group and hence not closest trucks. it would make it easier to have a 4th alarm be 2 more trucks 5th be 2 more etc.

Matt i have also been told that by a member of the uniform and PPe committee. However what do you define a tree down as?

Well this is starting to maek a fair bit of rational sense. it might even allow us to have a normal alarm system rather than a 4th alarm calling in group strike teams.

SA Firefighter General / Re: more full time fire fighters
« on: September 22, 2009, 06:17:30 PM »
CFA has full time manned stations in various towns. these stations are typically busier ones. So the CFS recruitment is not to replace vollies as such but replace or add full time staff where necessary.

As for Vollie numbers in SA i don't know for sure but i believe CFS is falling a bit.

yeah personally i like the idea but i have got the feeling that CFS is largely in favor of rolled hose.

are there any smaller truck dual cabs that could fit BA seats? just throwing it out there?

there are more and more pics of this type of truck popping up on ozfire. looks like a good starting point but only has 2ba in the ones i have seen. also all most of the hose is flaked and i don't know how that would be accepted in CFS.

I agree with Cnd, it would be a large wast of money to buy more big pumpers and MFS crews to sit on there donkey and watch foxtell  :-P. Many of Adelaide's stations aren't busy even by Australian standards. We can get a lot more out of the crews and trucks we currently have before we need to invest in many more stations.

to put a CFS spin on it, If we were to get enough appliances to easily fight the worst day ever we would need to cover the entire state with trucks, :-P

Also i assume that the new canters and other chassis have come along way in terms of power compared to 20yr old ford traders.

This has been mentioned in relation to the Kilburn fire and all the difficulties that MFS had there.

What is a reasonable amount of fire suppression systems for a firm to have? obviously something like a ship has to be rather self contained but something such as wingfield dump or a factory in the suburbs doesn't.

Personally I think the point of the fire brigade is that everyone doesn't need to have a personal fire truck but it is obviously in the interest of the firm to have good systems to be able to minimize potential damage, and i guess it may help with insurance aswell.

Are you all thinking this is what we will see in urban fringe brigades like your happy valley and Morphett vales etc or the brigades just back from them (ie not righto on urban fringe) like  Aldgate, Piccadilly, most of Sturt group.

I like the stowage layout on the CFA truck But think the cab looks a little tight

yeah i guess using at least a 70mm hose fixes that problem.

is there a mid mount NH30that we could put on a 34p and remove the crew deck ? that would work really well for and urban ish truck for lots of brigades?

just to refresh me the current 34p is 500gpm? and FDNY is 2000 or 4000?  and mfs is 1000?

i think the idea is good i just want to see some blueprints or the finished thing.

I sort of agree

My main problem is that the first few words on the pager often mean more than the rest. and then set the tone for the job. so if you read tree down not MVA you thin diffrently
