Title: Monitors
Post by: 6739264 on August 27, 2008, 12:59:03 PM
So which Brigades around the place have monitors? Either Ground or Roof mounted (No, not your tiny 38mm one - REAL monitors)

Do they get much work?

What nozzles do you carry for them?

Would they be a valuble investment for Brigades that do a fair amount of surround and drown? (EG: Hay Sheds)

Belair Tanker has a 3inch TFT which is plumbed straight of the top of the pump housing (Darley HE500). With 10000litres of water behind it make it a worthwhile option. Has a throw of around 60 metres (at 700kpa).

Points to remember with any large capacity monitor is you need a large water capacity to go with it!

We fitted a rural monitor to our appliance, and it is used a fair bit of the time.  Used to assist in flat land fire-fighting and is a great tool to put out stringy barks out in the National Parks etc.

Money well spent!!

Naracoorte pumper has a roof mounted monitor with a TFT  has a 3inch feed but is only good in town and the 34 is unable to provide enough pressure to supply water too it. that is why they are getting a 34p with in the next year or so..The monitor can be removed for ground work / set up, has only been used twice that I know of once was for a gas leak while the Olympic torch was coming down the street....

I thought it would have been safer and cheaper to just stop the cylinder leaking...
