i have been told that the new approved gloves for basic firefighting are the pacific gloves level 1 , they are a medium cuff glove and have been a direct result of the Phoenix report,i brought mine thru NOWA as i find that they deliver quickly and are good on price. i got to know the efficiency of Nowa when i was my previous groups GEO.
my advice is shop around and compare the prices because everyones after the sale , i used this method and saved my group a large amount which inturn enabled us to buy other items .

we achieve our goals far and beyond the public expectations
as for mets , they do their part we do ours.
get a real job you say , well CFS members put in 24/7 and i as most have full time jobs i think your attitude is one of very few now days as we both work and train with MFS and besides a few dinosaurs the relationship between the two agency's is very good.

First Aid Kits = 12 Months ( arranged with local SAAS/St Johns)
fire extinguisher are covered by Australian standard 1851 which states extinguishers are to be serviced at 6 monthly intervals and fireblankets on an annual basis , this is a Federal agency and is the only standard used 12 monthly checks are only valid if you are defense or airports, commercial fishing are 12month survey.
just check with the service contractor on the validity of the certificate as i issue 6 months cover from day of service as i am sure they do, well if they are complying with the AS1851

do you think we should keep the trucks white or join the rest of Australia (CFA,NSWRFS,QldRFS Etc)and go red ?
What are you thoughts
i reckon red would work better for on-road jobs, white trucks in white smoke seems a little unusual but been to many fires and striketeams and it isn't a problem either.

although groups vary in service periods, they do not have an exemption for not complying with the standards 1851.
group funding takes into account servicing of portable equipment as this is why groups are allocated funds. too many groups decide to by non standard stowage and other items which is fine but only once all the operational equipment is brought up to CFS standards. As for 12 monthly servicing of equipment this also goes against the work cover regulations in which the CFS gets covered by the government,i believe the CFS brigades need to keep in mind the legal responsibility it has each time they roll out on a job.
also how many brigades check there first aid kits you would be surprised.
