Title: Map of regions
Post by: Skillsy on August 22, 2009, 08:26:41 PM
First time poster, recent subscriber here from Mexico.

Firstly, I was deeply moved regarding the Vic Fires thread from around page 3 to page 6. Interesting to see the comments from everyone is it went to poo over the border and there was nothing that you could do. Thanks for all your thoughts and understand completely the ones who wanted to head code 1 and those who knew that the time would come.

I wonder if someone could provide a link to a detailed map of the regions on the interweb somewhere.

Uniden,
Thanks for the link however I thought there might be a better version floating around the interweb or someone's email box, especially around Adelaide.

Now that we have been so nice, can you give us our Grand Prix back and stop polluting my local with that "VB" swill.

Thanks :)

6739264,
You are more than welcome to have the Grand Prix back. As for VB, I thought this was a fire fighting forum, why are we talking about lolly water?

I think I have sussed the regions to within 10km to 20km for the southern part which is probably as good as I need it.

One other question on daylight saving. Do you move into/out of daylight saving as the same time as Victoria or is there a couple of weeks where the time is not 1/2hour difference?

Final question, where is "West End Export" exported to or is the name factually incorrect?

Daylight saving period in South Australia is from the first Sunday in October each year until the first Sunday in April the following year.  I have no idea what Victoria has, and if that's the same or not!

SA generally goes over to/from daylight saving on the same dates as Vic.
Tas have been trialling extended dates. I think they commenced DS 2 or 3 weeks
ahead of the rest of us last year.

West End Export is/was definitely exported.  No way would we want that dreadful
stuff in our establishments.  As to where it was sent... who cares.  The
important thing is that it never came back!!  A bit like the Carlton ads -
"made from beer".
Can't help wishing they'd left the beer alone!!  :-D

Is the aerial fire-fighting map of primary response zones show the regional
boundaries any better than what you've already got ? http://cfs.sa.gov.au/site/about_us/aerial_firefighting/map_of_primary_response_zones.jsp

cheers

West End?  What is this West End you speak of....?

oh yes...I recall - West End is to South Aussies as to what Fosters is to the rest of the world....

we export it to the masses who believe it is some wonderful alcoholic beverage....and watch the money roll in while we sit back on the couch with a Coopers Pale!

Thanks Alan J,
That's a bit better and explains a few areas. I might post my meager attempt on Google later this week if there is any interest.
