Dont get too antsy, im just saying...

Why get all worked up about doing a change of quarters? Its not worth the heartache.

Dont forget bill, that MFS crew that might come sit in CFS area is getting paid still, where as vols are taking the day off work to do someone elses job.

Im not against helping SAMFS, just think sometimes people get a bit over the top about this scheiße.

But i suppose its really up to the MFS who they want to go where i suppose?

Not really.. MFS can take 2, then ask politely, and its up to CFS to decide who they will supply.

You'll find that pretty much the only brigades that will ever do COQ are the EMA brigades around the place, althought theres no real reason why others could not.

But honestly people... wake up. All this discussion here and in the HAZMAT thread about change of quarters... Why on earth would you want to vollunteer to go and sit in an MFS station for hours on end? They pay people to do this and yet a lot of you guys are absoloutely desperate to do it free of charge?

I understand community spirit, etc.. but sometimes these things are ridiculous.

Eden have RIG, not full RCR stowage.

RCR/RIG is not a requirement for COQ, i think Darren was implying that for the appliances to be considered a rescue in MFS area they would need the full stowage as per a 9. At the end of the day we [CFS] dont supply trucks with RCR equipment as the standard for COQ anyway, would leave to many areas without coverage.

Did a course with another company where the trainers weren't fireys, coppers or ambos

[/qoute]

ok... you liked being trained by people, who dont actually get out there and do the job "in real life" [as such]

but;

really annoys me when we get some old firey who has never done something in their life... only done the course again and again but never done... ie rescue stuff from height above 20m...

you hate it when the trainer has no experience?

Just remember to make sure you leave enough people home to staff the trucks, wouldn' be the first time a neighbouring brigade of ours defaulted as they were all at the Royal Show on the CFS stand !!

Must have been a big stand that year...  (or a small neighbouring brigade...)

or... all for the available crew had put there name down to go to the show... whilst the rest of the brigade was at work.

I guess it depends on your interpretation of "all"...

eeer.... can 'all' be interpreted?

Region 1 forgot to advise us I think. BUT WHATS NEW?

yep, exaclty the same thing happened last year as well... certain areas failed to receive there memo.

in saying that though, i am in region 1, and our brigade did receive an invite.

So to get back to the original topic, does anyone have minimum requirements for responding into MFS area regardless of the call?
(For example, do you always have 2 BA operators even if you're going to an MVA?).

YES

Is this in writing anywhere? Id be keen to have a read.

Country Fire Service / Re: CFS responding with MFS in MFS area

My rant is completely hypothetical, although, if you swap the word MFS for CFS and vice versa, it become quite realistic.

The point i am trying to make is that we would all crack the filtered big time if an MFS truck rocked up to a going job in our area with a crew that had the gear but were not trained to use it. Yet members of our service seem to think it is just dandy for us to do it to them.

I VOTE "NO BA, NO RIDE THE TRUCK." Don't meet the fitness requirements? should you really be on the fire ground?

It may seem to many like a heavy handed approach, but if all members of your crew are up to date in all of their training, it should make the CFS a much safer and more professional service.

Jut my opinion!

Pix, not sure why you quoted my original post then.... if you had read it.

how about we just respond with the appropriate rescue or BA crew dependant on the incident type..... surely we all know the CFS SOPs for minimum crewing, doesnt matter whos area it is

appropriate crew for an incident.... Min 2 BA operators for structure/VF/rubbish, or 3 RCR Operators [VA], etc etc... [honestly, i didnt think i had to spell it out...]

doesnt matter whos area it is in..... WE SHOULD BE RESPONDING WITH THE APPROPRIATE CREW REGARDLESS OF WHO'S GAZZETTED AREA IT IS [yep i can shout too]

mmm agreed numbers, however O2 is such a versatile tool...

both would be very nice, but if i could have only one, personally id tend towards the oxygen.

Sorry, but actually it does matter whos area it is. If the brigade is responding  into an MFS area, the minimum is 2 BA operators. no question about it, if you cant get 2 ba operators the EMA agreement says DEFAULT! Same goes for road crash i believe (but not 100% sure).

Also put it this way, how would you feel in this FICTIONAL scenario:

You are OIC on first arriving CFS truck at a house fire confined to 1 bedroom.
You have 1 BA team on your truck, and you know that the next CFS appliance is 2 minutes down the road with 2 BA operators on board. And an mfs appliance is on its way to your station for COQ

Whilst your first BA crew is making entry, the job begins to escalate, you call for a second alarm.

The second CFS appliance shows up and their BA team also begins an aggressive interior attack.

2 minutes later the COQ MFS truck(which you assume have a minimum of 2 ba operators, as thats what your EMA agreement says) rock up. <the issue is between them they have exactly ZERO Ba operators.>

2 Minutes after that, another MFS appliance shows up, same situation, zero BA operators.

Now what do you do? you have 2 BA teams attempting an aggressive interior attack, with no rescue personnel in case the poop hits the fan inside.

Very nice rant mate.

As far as i am aware, from "Master of Disaster's" first post, we are talking about a response to an incident, not a COQ. Or have you lost me? I have never heard anything about a CFS pump going to a grassie in MFS area requiring BA operators, although im sure theyd be nice.

But judging by your example anyway, im presuming your talking about COQs.

Quote
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU!?!

THIS IS THE POTENTIAL SITUATION THAT YOU ARE SETTING UP YOUR NEIGHBORING MFS CREWS UP FOR BY NOT FOLLOWING EMA RESPONSE PLANS!

The MFS would not do this to us, so why would we do it to them?

HAH, jog on..

Irons? A & B sides? 2nd due appliances.....
hmmmmm

A/B/C/D etc.. Works with sectorising structures no? Start at the front and work around in a clockwise direction.

Mmmm it may well be a good way of sectorising structures, and im well aware of what he was referring too. However this is definitely not a South Aussie way of speaking and probly not even aussie full stop [?]..

Just having a tease about all the 'yankeeisms' in there... few too many movies perhaps ;)

perhaps people who have questions should try organising a tour of comms for there brigade.... ;)

I still do not see the difference between pages that have been sent previously. MOST "Respond To" pages have the incident details attached to the message. The same with location detail, haven't you had calls to x streets and intersections and street corners before?

Numbers, i suppose its the differance between the incident type being at the start of the message rather than somewhere hidden in the details, And with the location, its putting the exact location all in one part of the message rather than split up again.
