Ah the joys of Bumside, not just the firies, but the suburb in general. Here I am thinking Burnside Shopping Mall (actually located in Glenside) made extra wide car parks to fit the Burnside Tractors (eg 4 Wheel Drives) but it was actually for the new fire trucks, what initiative!!

As a teacher I would be asking the other teachers if they want the kid to actually come down, or would you prefer an afternoon without that little filtered

i see the sign is up as well. looks good.
Bunnings won't be happy when they realise that as your major sponsors they havent even made the sign?

Will group be putting signs out on highway so everyone knows where the station is? It has been sitting as base for a few years now hasnt it?

updating the course would seem to go as follows;
its a case of integrating the new skills we need to know, with the old skills that are importnat making sure when you change things over it is all correct, but getting rid of redundant material

how often is the course reviewed/updated?

The first page looks incomplete, doesnt have incident number, doesnt have talk group and doesnt have name of appliance responding?

comms may have done first one, then had to edit cos not complete,
or 1 may have come from adelaide fire and the other from group??

if you heard somethings to do with said brigade, not all (or even any) questions would appear as dumb

Isnt it funny how the amount of replies on this thread is equal to as many calls as Compton gets in two years

haha

still reckon they could have saved a whole lot of time and money if bunnings had have just added an extra shed for the station, imagine call outs, compton24 rolling, compton 24 on scene, compton 24 returning to station nothing found at bunnings alarm, compton 24 back at station, all within about a minute
lol

is it bad for a teacher to say that we wor about peoples self confidence more these days than them actually being competenet???

Do you really want someone who does not have a clue what they are doing on the fire ground just cos you don't wanna hurt their feelings and say they are not good enough??

TG = Talk Group

it tells the brigades which channels to communicate on.

so TG182 means Talk Group 182

The whole idea of the pager is to get you to the station
The whole idea of radios in the truck is so you can find out more information?
Easy??

BFF1 should definitley but back on time,
I was lucky enough to do it almost part time, so could fit around my schedule, but with the lack of courses leading up to fire season, would probably have not got it done in time

The course should be as it is named "Basic Fire Fighting" whats the point of the massive big folder, when only the basics need to be covered?

Yes, this puts the onus back on brigades to bring members up to a suitable standard, but, this is something they should be doing anyway, as the course is now, most goes in one ear and out the other for recruits who (like i was) had never even thought about it until a couple of weeks before joining and actually knew nothing about fire fighting.
Actually training with your crew is where you pick up a lot of stuff (as long as it is done properly)
