Not at all just happened to be in the town when they turned out and was curious as to where they were off to! I think you missed the point mr Teddy!! My point being they were turning out to a grass fire and took their "19" appliance which in SACAD than took their RCR gear offline! When SACAD was explained to us we were told to read ur pager carefully and respond the appliance listed....just because you don't agree doesn't make it stupid!!

All fair and valid points, but when this brigade rolls it's 34p with RCR gear on it instead of the paged 24 doesn't it technically render the rescue gear offline. Therefore SACAD will respond the next closest RCR appliance if there is a job inside that RCR appliance beat?

Sooo how many Brigades are responding a different appliance to a job than the one on the page from A fire??

I just witnessed a brigade have their 24 responded and rolled out the door in the 34P

Bushfires seem to be running rampant in WA at the moment. If ya thought we were busy in SA especially in the North id say WA is twice as busy.

In no way was i having a crack at the SES...i was more looking at it as a waste of volunteer time with it being opened to late for the event..

Really is that due to SACAD Bajdas??

Why don't get the SCC organized a little earlier when forecast of bad weather? Seems the majority of jobs are paged out before the SCC even opens! Of course this is only the case in these short weather events!

Seems to be some pretty severe lightning bands appearing across SA especially out eastern riverland n in the mallee. Also som right on the upper Eastern Side of spencer Gulf. Appears to be fairly "wet" but sometimes the radar can fool...Anyone with any in their area??

Pretty standard sort of change day really, hot and windy with a few bans. The change is fairly shallow and slow moving so the FDI's might get up a bit higher than predicted.

I see that Cape Willoughby on KI is currently sitting at an GFDI of 167 though (at 0930), the BOM only had it forecast to reach 48.

Where do you get that from?

Is this not what the Fire number is on weatherzone?
http://www.weatherzone.com.au/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=22803&list=ob

Coz they don't have it going much above 60.

Its the official BOM readings....You can access it from Southern Yorke CFS group webpage if you dont have it already :)

The system will never work, it cant, they are all screwed for thinking it wiil. The whole state cannot run the same way there are so many different areas that need special thought. Sacad is a huge backwards step for the country fire service. We need the old alerts system where the brigade took the alarm call and SOC assisted with the response. Local uknowledge and a spot on response every time. These clowns are taking the decision making away from the locals and f**k**g it up completely.

Seems to be working pretty alright I woulda thought...

I am curious as to whether 0430 recruitment for Strike teams and resources are really warranted given that this incident has been going for at least 3 - 4 days now..?? Whilst I fully appreciate that any fire can be dynamic and resource requirements can change rapidly, I would have thought that the resources required would be better understood (rather than a new, escalating fire) and that recruitment and acquisition of resources would occur in a more timely manner.

I am not being critical but rather making a constructive "outsiders" observation and asking whether this is the norm and / or appropriate for an incident that is 'not new' so to speak and that a 'Reduced Threat' message was issued last night...

ANy thoughts / feedback...???

Yep. I was on the IMT that made that decision. We identified due to increased fire activity overnight, and a chronic change in weather forecast received at 0300 that we were going to need more resources than had originally been planned for. Reduced Threat was replaced at 0530 with a WAM.

Why not some crews from R4 and the top of R2 organised at short notice for a say 6 hour shift to allow the crews from further afield to get there. I agree a 4 am wake up for a strike team 5 hours away is a bit tough

I wonder if weather in general is becoming harder to predict? Seems more and more things happen different to the general forecast! Or maybe we are just becoming very demanding!
