*shakes head*   have a look at the concept below...

*now the road will be 40km/h if i get SA government thinking right*

Sam Newman says it right....its the inexperienced/stupid drivers at fault.

May i suggest a monetary fine + a visit from local emergency services representatives.

This shows that lowering a speed limit to 60kmph...and greatly improving the intersection....achieves nothing still.

Sensor driven Traffic Lights with red light camera? and a fixed speed camera? lol...media mike will make heaps of money...

Intersection of Woodside-Nairne Road/Riverview Road, Inverbrakie would be another hot spot for a Ignored Stopsign/Speed camera detector.. (yeah lets invent something new)...

yeah...its a definitely a responsibility that SAPOL/SAAS should have, it would make sense to have the this as Rescue 51 and 52 are the last resort action for vertical rescue. SAAS SOT would particularly be able to deal with physical trauma in a much more up to date fashion to.

[OT] Was that SES 'van' as ugly as i imagine it to be? (judging from the small impression you can get from the photos)

It woulda been nice if they put on display some of the more decent vehicles used by the volunteer services...to compare against the MFS Volvo...  E.g a Isuzu SES Rescue Truck & a CFS 34P latest model.

Showing off these small lil additional trucks sends particularly myself an image that we run about with lil bits of water here and there and with crew's of 2.  The public who mostly have some or no awareness of the CFS take face value to create there opinion.

And from what ive heard this car is urgently needed actually in some stations. Take a look at some of the QAV/mini-14's out there still...falling to bits & OHS nightmares.

If it is sanctioned by the CFSVA...in agreement with state, then all is swell.

The way i see it, the brigades who are "better off" or Nothing Doers, *should* be supporting those who are not.

The ultimate result of this affects the CFS as a whole...so doing nothing as an individual brigade would be complete laziness. Its a volunteer effort to improve the ground support to the community. *Keeping in mind Area Coverage

Yeah but good luck finding someone in orange !! Also doesn't change the fact that the CFS rescue gear is on the SES rescue truck and that its always full of yellow people.

Hmmmm...I might be wrong but I thought it was the heavier duty SES RCR equipment on the SES Onkaparinga truck. Last I heard some CFS gear was on the CFS truck so it was a bit of a double up.

Yes, they wear CFS PPE but who cares...the community is served.

All the rescue gear is on Loby Rescue, with a spare set for Loby 24P on it sometimes.      Trained by CFS for Road Rescue...but now that MFS/CFS/SES do road rescue training under the same banner...no diff now :)

Hmmmm I think we would get arrested Alan and the general public especially the lycra wearing bike pedalling cafe latte types would be in tears!

 :-D

On what charge ?
A bunch of brigades just happened to go for a training drive which found
themselves in the city at around the same time. Everyone wearing seatbelts,
obeying road rules, etc, etc.
They might stop to compare vehicles with colleagues & do a quick truck check
(including a siren test)?
They might do a couple of laps of Vicky Sq - you just never know when you
might have to do a COQ to station 20.

And everyone knows that our baggy daggy yellows are a much more better chick-
magnet than lycra, especially we more generously proportioned older members.
 :-D

SAFF needs a "Likes" Button just like Facebook.

I think those handsome devils went down there without telling anyone not the CFS or the VFBA and the intent was to let the pollies know that their actions are being watched closely by volunteers at grass roots level.."where the rubber meets the road"

Just make sure that if we have to go down there and show some backbone dont let your fellow volunteers down by saying "oh no the govt will get angry at us" and not showing up... Lofty Group is committed to making a difference!!

I actually didnt want to say this but it captures the mood quite well   ..."United we stand...."

cheers

Hehe good stuff, but im gladd we're not in China...censorship would be in effect :P

Yes, next door.

Well thats dumb to shut up shop then....the SES should just approach the CFS brigade management and ask, for a merger.   There are integrated station examples in region 1.

CFS and SES Management Commitee's would continue to exist separately, but the membership would be dual.

I bring mr kiesslings good word's of united we stand....into a Inter-Service respect.

Make sure only non-dual cabs & preferably pre-1990's appliances go on parade if they do ;)
