have more problems wth saas not calling fire and rescue to car accidents than sapol..  and have now been told by local sapol we are more than welcome to call towies to come get the cars if they arent on scene, unless its a serious one then we wont do anything until they get there

i suppose if the pumpy isnt on his game it can be easy enough to use more water than you have coming in, where as if you run it through an inlet through the pump and out you cant use more than you are getting?

ALL Rescue / Re: Holden VE Commodore battery
« on: November 14, 2010, 12:32:43 PM »
Having said all of this the whole set up works very well, had an incident involving a VE head on with a combined speed of 160k and all 4 doors still opened.

thats pretty impressive......

but did anyone think that if you had a rear collision wouldn't it be more dangerous having a battery in the boot?

Why would it be any worse than the front??  Batteries are quite often destroyed in frontal impact so what would the difference be for the back?

Yes not sure about the b pillar in the air either but on another website it looks like it may be the trim only??  But once again why not spend the extra minute removing it.. but i wasnt there so there is probably a good reason for it to be like that:) still good job to all involved

Agree with andrew, fantastic to see some forward thinking with a job like this, especially in such a high risk RCR area.

SAAS / Re: Graduate paramedics
« on: October 28, 2010, 09:26:25 AM »
The odds of getting a job aren't good in SA because we continue to use volunteer labour in large numbers. For example goolws is a SAAS volley  station with 600+ jobs per year workload ( and struggle to man their ambulance), in Victoria, NSW or QLD they would be a career station with guaranteed staffing and paramedic level care. But as foley said in parliament today "sh# t happens"

Believe their call numbers topped 1500 calls last year however being the most profitable saas station in the state i think they want to leave it volly for as long as possible.

Ninja edit.. oops didnt see that misterteddy had already corrected call numbers  :-D

248
Meh our group has used 26 for years but lots of the local trucking companies etc are using it now and so just going to a quieter talkgroup.

249
SES dont count....

our brigade just did a week of solid recruiting at the local shopping centre,, i believe we got 2-3 dozen names of interested people and are now holding an information night for those this coming week,, i think if we can get 2-3 (hopefully alot more than that) good members out of this we will have done well
